Organizer’s Message

Within the framework of its social responsibility, Kinanis Law Firm pioneers,

sponsors, and establishes an annual photography competition with the aim to

promote and stimulate interest and creativity in photography among professional

and amateur photographers.

Each annual photography competition, will have a philanthropic aspect as well.

A charitable institution will be chosen each year and the net proceeds, along with

the donations, the income from the sales of the commemorative booklet and the

exhibited photographs, will be donated to the chosen charitable institution.

This year, the honoured non-profitable company, charitable institution is,

ÇΑγκαλιά Ελπίδας Παγκύπρια Οργάνωση Γονέων & Φίλων Παιδιών με Εγκεφαλικές και

άλλες ΠαραλύσειςÈ.

The theme of the competition was the notion of “Tomorrow”. Thirty-six

photographers from around the world participated and in total ninety-five

photographs where submitted.

We would like to express our thanks to all the photographers who took part in

this innovative event whose participation made the event feasible. We would also

like to express our gratitude to the committee of judges, to our sponsors and to

the employees of our firm who, with all their efforts, took part and contributed to

the success of this event.

We would also like to express our thanks to the rector of the University of Cyprus,

Professor Tasos Christofides for his kindness to open the exhibition of this 1st

Photography Competition 2019.

We hope that this event will be recognised and established among the successful

social events of our country.

Judging Committee Message

We were honoured to participate as a team of judges in the first photography

competition organized and sponsored by Kinanis Law Firm.

In reviewing the photographs submitted, we strictly took into consideration the

terms and conditions of the competition, the quality and the consistency of the work

presented within the outlined theme of the competition. In a strict confidential

approach, we selected the winners, the honourable mentions and the shortlisted

photographs. All decisions were taken unanimously.

Once the photographs were selected for the above-mentioned categories, we then

had revealed to us the identities of the participants and location of their residence.

We were delighted to discover that something original and innovative was embraced

by individuals of various ages, nationalities and that our competition travelled

beyond our small island of Cyprus.

We express our thanks and gratitude to all the participants who honoured with their

presence/participation this photography competition that explored various means

of creativity within the camera to express the theme of “Tomorrow”. With anticipation

we look forward to future competitions that once again will promote the medium

of photography in Cyprus and allows us the ability to help create awareness of

philanthropic organizations that are in need.

WHO COULD PARTICIPATE

Professional and amateur photographers, irrespective of age, nationality or

residency.

HOW

By submitting up to 3 (three) color or black and white photographs responding

to the theme of the Competition.

THE COMMITTEE OF JUDGES

Christalla Kyriacou, BAA, MVA, Freelance Photographer, Lecturer,

Giorgos Hadjipieris, Composer, Music Producer, Amateur Photographer,

Christos Kinanis, Advocate, Amateur Photographer.

PRIZES

First Prize €1.000, Second Prize €500, Third Prize €250 and Honorable Mentions.

Opening will be held by the Honorable Rector of the University of Cyprus,

Professor Tasos Christofides, on Friday the 22nd of November 2019 at 7:30pm, at
