The ‘Ambitions’ Process: 2008-2012Involved all School Careers leads = grass roots buy-in

Targetted at all Yr 9 students, during school day

Tutorials developed for students to understand the 23 work sectors and select 5 of them to attend a workshop in

Employers given supportive training in conducting engaging sessions

Conducted on neutral territory = ownership by all

Wow effect – large venue, short hands-on activities followed by discussion with real employers

University, Schools, Colleges, LA all provide some funding or services so cost is spread evenly and not a burden

Less taxing on employers not having to attend many small events

An evening event followed on to benefit parents, older students and includes universities and relevant seminars

Tried, tested, portable – now in its 6th year; evaluated by all stakeholders
