ABOUT TOLER8

PAGE 003

TOLER8 is an organisation formed to promote tolerance, equality and unity throughoutour many different and beautiful beliefs, backgrounds, sexuality, races and religions.

We all live on this planet, a place we call home, so why can we not live side by side inharmony, if you can excuse the cliché.

The world is in disarray and something, even if small, needs to be done to start uniting us all. There are so many things we can learn from each other. So instead of fighting, let’s start loving, enjoying, sharing, breathing and experiencing what we have to offer with each other.enjoying, sharing, breathing and experiencing what we have to offer with each other.Side by side and hand in hand.

So now is the moment where we come together to confirm whatwe already know, our planet is beautiful and so are we.

Together, we are ONE.

WHY WE NEED THIS PAGE 004

European and North American governments are failing to keep pace with a wave of violent hate crime thatcontinues to rise across the region. Racism, anti-Semitism, xenophobia, anti-Muslim and anti-Roma hatred, religiousintolerance, homophobia: the list of biases that fuel these crimes is a long one. Attacks range from lethal assaultsto threats and harassment to vandalism and desecration of religious and community property. The perpetratorsare individuals acting alone, or in concert with neighbors, co-workers, and fellow students, as well as loosely-knitor more organized groups that share ideologies of hatred and act on them. The violence can ruin lives, or endthem. It can terrorize whole communities, driving away vulnerable minorities or forcing them to stay out of sight.them. It can terrorize whole communities, driving away vulnerable minorities or forcing them to stay out of sight.Violent hate crime, especially when the official response to it is weak or nonexistent, also attacks the society atlarge, undermining the very notions of equality and the equal protection of the law.

The Hate Crime Survey examines six facets of violent hate crime in the 56 European and North Americancountries that comprise the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE): Violence Based onRacism and Xenophobia, Anti-Semitic Violence, Violence Against Muslims, Violence Based on Religious Intolerance,Violence Against Roma, and Violence Based on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Bias.Violence Against Roma, and Violence Based on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Bias.

Based on a review of available information, violent hate crime is occurring at historically high levels in manyOSCE countries. Indeed, the violence increased in 2007 in many areas for several types of hate crime. Amongthe findings:

# There were moderate to high rises in the overall recorded numbers of violent hate crimes motivated by racism andxenophobia in 2006 and 2007 in Finland, Ireland, the Slovak Republic, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States. In the absence of official data, information from nongovernmental monitors show rising levels of racist violence in Greece,Italy, the Russian Federation, Switzerland, and Ukraine. Individuals of African origin and Roma were particularly targeted inItaly, the Russian Federation, Switzerland, and Ukraine. Individuals of African origin and Roma were particularly targeted inacts of racist and xenophobic violence in 2007 and in the first half of 2008.

# In 2007, overall levels of violent anti-Semitic attacks against persons increased in Canada, Germany, the Russian Federation,Ukraine, and the United Kingdom according to official statistics and reports of nongovernmental monitors.

# Available data indicates that violence based on sexual orientation and gender identity bias is a significant portion of violenthate crimes overall and are characterized by levels of physical violence that in some cases exceed those present in other hatecrimes.crimes.

So TOLER8’s main event of the year is ‘Party In The Park’. A live event featuring many nationaland international artists, bands and performers, spreading the message of peace and unity onone stage, together and unified.

An event for everyone, you can come to chill, party, take part and learn all in one weekendAn event for everyone, you can come to chill, party, take part and learn all in one weekendand meet people you thought you never would.

The event will be set in beautiful surroundings with events for children aswell as adults alike, in a funnon-aggressive and in your face way to educate people. Education is the key - without knowledgewe have no room to grow and learn acceptance.

From the filthy beats of 50 Cent to the mellow tones of Sinead O’Connor, unity has never soundedso good. So bring a blanket, bring a picnic basket and bring a bottle of Champagne! We havesomething to celebrate... TOGETHERNESS.something to celebrate... TOGETHERNESS.

2010 is just the beginning for us, it’s a long road until our first Party In The Park, with a lot of work ahead, but webelieve that with this event, we can open up people’s eyes and show that standing up for what you believe indoesn’t have to be forced, aggressive or an event that causes tensions and boundaries.

We firmly believe that through education, understanding and togetherness with a bit of music chucked in,we can really start living side by side, making this world a better place to live in, for you and the childrenof the future.
