With the holidays fast approaching, NFCC is busier than ever. Over 30 local schools are collecting food for our Thanksgiving distribution. Neighborhoods, businesses, civic and faith groups are getting ready to collect new toys to brighten children's holidays. Once again our community is coming together to provide happy holidays to hundreds of struggling families. Today at our Annual Community Meeting, we recognized our 2014 Partners of the Year for their extraordinary contributions. The selection is always very difficult as there are so many outstanding faith, civic and corporate partners and volunteers who together make up NFCC. See more below. We wish you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving.

Meet our Neighbor . . . . Fern
Fern Saint shared her story at the Annual Community Breakfast. She was a successful professional, living in Alpharetta with her teenage daughter and frail elderly mother. Fern was working in the mortgage business when her life
was turned upside down by the recession. She lost her job, her savings and her home. NFCC assisted Fern through her training and transition into other work. Her daughter enrolled in GED tutoring at NFCC and passed her GED exam. Fern is now happy to be employed by SunTrust Bank and grateful for the compassion and assistance that she found at NFCC along the way. There were quite a few tears shed among the guests who heard Fern's story at the Breakfast.

Warm Coat Day
It was a frigid Saturday morning and colder night when
families started lining up at our holiday distribution site to
receive warm coats. For parents like Vivian, it was an
opportunity to save limited funds,
and provide outerwear for her
children. She arrived at 3:00am in
the morning to make sure she was
first in line and had the best
selection of coats for her family.
A total of 1,489 coats, jackets and
accessories were provided to 173
local families in need. Remaining
coats were returned to our Thrift
Store where families who weren't
able to attend can use their
clothing vouchers.
Over 155 volunteers helped sort, hang, set-up and assist
families with their
selections. Hand
knitted mittens, caps,
scarves and gloves
were provided by
Skeins of Love and
hundreds of local
churches, civics
groups, individuals,
and businesses held
coat and mitten drives.
Thank you for recognizing the need and sharing the
warmth!
