What is the ambition for social housing in Australia

• Reduce the wait list through increased stock and tenant attrition Create fit-for-purpose accommodation reflective of the demographic
• Develop ‘pathways’ to ensure social housing is used as a stepping stone to independence

Participants (pieces of a complex puzzle)
Participants (pieces of a complex puzzle)
TENANTS
What are the challenges associated with inviting greater industry and third party participation?
1. What are strengths of each of the participants?
2. Given these strengths, what role should they play in the team to contribute to achieving the required outcomes
3. What delivery framework should be created to harmonise these carefully selected subject matter and delivery experts?
4. How comprehensive is the model? Does it have ultimate responsibility for tenant management, housing stock improvement, recycling and regeneration, reduced waiting lists as well as social outcomes?

1. Ultimately, what do we want from the social housing sector?
2. Identify core strengths of all participants and who can deliver best results

The continuation of programs such as the Premier’s Innovation Initiatives in NSW
Industry to take the lead in forming partnerships and collaborative models
Example 1
Blown away by our excellent team from Fair Repairs
The recent expansion of Broadspectrum’s integrated facilities management and property services contract with the NSW Land & Housing Corporation provided the business with the unique opportunity to support the community through targeted social engagement procurement. One of our stand out Community Service Provider (CSP) subcontractors who goes above and beyond in employing dedicated members from the local community, including Housing tenants, is Fair Repairs.
Lawns, grounds and cleaning service provider: Fair Repairs, is a social enterprise that offers high quality work and supports their community by providing employment opportunities for those experiencing barriers to employment such as individuals with disabilities, Housing tenants and Indigenous people.
With a growing team of around 70 individuals, the majority of these employees are Housing tenants.
Example 2
Creating training opportunities to support positive career pathways
Broadspectrum National Contact Centre (NCC) is proud to offer eligible Customer Service Officers (CSO’s) with the opportunity to undertake a fully funded workplace tertiary education through their recently established Workplace Trainee and Apprenticeship Program.
The Program has been developed in collaborating with nationally recognised Registered Training Organisation (RTO): SWC, and in partnership with the Australian Apprenticeships Support Network. The training provides employees with the opportunity to receive on the job training, that once completed awards them with a Certificate IV in Customer Engagement.

Our First Mental Health & Social Issues Awareness Training program
The Broadspectrum Asset Maintenance Services (AMS) Housing Contract Team were proud to partner with Sydney TAFE to develop and deliver our first Mental Health & Social Issues Awareness Training Program.
Key employees from Operations, Management, the Call Centre and two client participants from NSW Land & Housing Corporation, were specially selected to participate in two training programs which ran over a six week course in the Parramatta office.
This training was tailored to the unique requirements of our AMS Agreement, participant’s roles and in line with our social investment commitments.
Thank you
