November 3, 2019 ALL SAINTS DAY is a way to remember and honor the saints in our lives. Take a few minutes to stop by the Welcome Desk and list the name of a significant family member, friend or person whom you have lost in the last year (November 1, 2018 to present). We will celebrate ‘All Saints Day’ in both the 8:30 and 11:00 worship services.
December 9th & 10th, the UMW will be making Christmas Candy as a fundraiser for Putnam Aging, Camp Appalachia and updates to the church Kitchen Island. We would really appreci-ate donated items, or monetary donations, to help make this possible. Pick up a list of ‘Candy Ingredients’ at the Welcome Desk, select those you wish to donate, and let Judy Justice or Peggy Kuhl know what you are donating. Thank you so much.
The first Connections get-together is right around the corner. We will gather in the gym on Sunday, Nov. 3
rd from 5pm to 7pm
for a time of food, fun, and fellowship! This is open to all ages and you are encouraged to invite your friends, families, and neighbors to join us. This will be a family-fun-night where we will play interactive games, eat hamburgers and hotdogs, and spend the evening laughing together. You don’t need to bring anything except a desire to connect with God and to connect with others.

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heav-en. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

Sermon Notes Luke 18:9-14
“The Mercies of God”
I. It is What it is A. A straightforward approach to his parable is to view the Pharisee as a __________ __________. B. However, this approach is dangerous because it leads us to viewing ourselves just as the Pharisee viewed himself and thereby creates a __________ line between those who are in and those who are outside God’s __________. C. Viewing this parable simply as a lesson on __________ might hinder us from discovering a deeper point that Jesus is making.
II. A Different Approach A. If we look deeper into the parable, we are quick to learn that this parable teaches us that __________ alone __________ the human heart. B. We also learn that God ultimately is the one who determines those who are __________.
III. The Marks of a Disciple A. As disciples, we are expected to approach God like the Tax Collector by staking our __________ and __________, not on anything we have done or think we deserve, but entirely on the __________ of God.
IV. Jesus Calling Jesus is calling his followers to bring their brokenness to God and trust in God’s mercies to make them whole.
Dear Friends, Thank you so much for your support and encouragement throughout the year. Especially, we want to thank you for the recent outpouring of love and generosity you expressed to us during Pastor Appreciation Day. We are truly grateful for our church family and are honored and blessed to serve alongside you in God’s Kingdom.
We Love You,
Michael and Candy
