Grade CAll will be able

to describe some ways

Muslims can put their

beliefs about the

environment into practice.

Did you achieveYOUR goal?…

OUTCOMES…

Think about a group/community you belong to...

What makes you part of this community?

ALL Muslims are part of the UMMAH (the Muslim

brotherhood). The UMMAH unites Muslims from all over the world as ONE community.

This community not only includes Muslims in today's

society but all Muslims in the past and future Muslims too!

What are the POSITIVES of being part of a community?

The UMMAHTHINK- PAIR –

SHAREHow might the Muslim idea of

the UMMAH help tackle environmental problems throughout the world?

USE THE PICTURE CLUES TO HELP YOU...

o All of the Ummah have the same goals so they can work together to

achieve them.o The Ummah can join together becoming more

powerful – therefore things are more likely to

get done.o Part of the Ummah is future generations so

Muslims will want to protect the environment

and its resources for them.

o In being part of the Ummah Muslims will

want to share the earths resources equally.

explain its meaning.

Try to remember the QUOTE and be able explain its

meaning.

Muhammad and water

When the prophet and his companion were once on a long hard journey, they

stopped by a clear stream. It was a hot day and Muhammad's companions immediately went into the water and let it freely splash over them. When

they looked up the prophet had taken a small bowl from his carrier and had scooped a small amount to wash in. Amazed the companions asked why. ‘Who gave us these good gifts but

Allah and he gave enough for all but we should only take what we need and

not waste any part’.

What point is Muhammad making here?

What lesson can Muslims learn from this?

How could they put this teaching into practice?

Some Muslims join and volunteer for organisations that work for the

environment. Organisations such as ISLAMIC RELIEF recognise the link between poverty and

environmental care.

Islamic Relief states...’we all have a responsibility to maintain the balance of the earth, especially as

disruption between the balance is causing widespread suffering amongst the worlds poorest

people.’

What do you think is meant by this statement?

Do you agree?

Islamic Relief ensures that, while providing short-and long-term relief for those who are suffering, they do so in an environmentally

safe way.

Do you agree with this approach? Why might some people disagree with you?

Grade A/A*Some will be

able to express an

opinion on the link between

environmental issues and poverty.
