The campus was buzzing with life and activity. Dear Readers,

I take immense pleasure in presenting to you, ninth issue of UDGAM-the official newsletter of GNIOT Group.

In the past semester, GNIOT campus was vibrant with the number of academic and extra-curricular activities like the techSparks, organized by the Technical club of GNIOT. Also we welcomed our freshers, batch 2015-16, in a splendid way. The social club organized 'Blood Donation Camp”, in association with Rotary Club of Ghaziabad, and a visit to old age home “Guru Vishram Vridh ashram” at Sarita Vihar, New Delhi. The campus was buzzing with life and activity.

The editorial board is extremely thankful to the members of GNIOT Group for their tremendous response in providing the information related to their academics and research activities. Our students have also contributed a lot for this issue and deserve a special mention.

This issue highlights the humane side of the young techno-fraternity.

Higher education is the yardstick by which the progress of every nation is measured. Today, as India stands at the doorstep of the most exciting future replete with possibilities of unprecedented growth and development, higher education stands out as the pivotal variable - a factor that all of us as responsible citizens have the good fortune to impact. Today, industry, academia and the general society all need to join hands to share each other's expertise, enthusiasm and commitment to make a truly skilled, progressive and responsible Indian citizenry a reality.

At GNIOT, it is our endeavour to produce professionals who have the optimum mix of attitude, skill, culture and knowledge to adopt themselves to the emerging trends with condence and pursue their chosen professions with comfort. Our objective is to create a breed of qualied, innovative and dynamic professionals for corporate sectors, the service industry, for self-employment and for academic & research institutions of socio-economic importance.

We welcome our new batch of engineers, MBA's and MAM's in the current academic session, 2015-16.

Learning, growth and development can only occur when individuals are open and motivated to reach a higher level of achievement. In order to achieve optimisation, motivation of all partners (students, faculty and staff) in the learning process is vital to success. GNIOT believes that exceptional teaching unites teacher, student and subject on the journey of intellectual, emotional, social and ethical development of the student.

We strongly believe in human values and our commitment to the Nation and human society. Accordingly, our teaching-learning process is based on motivating factors, discipline, although in relaxed natural ambience. We are determined to help our students to understand the power of words, appreciate the beauty of languages, and learn the art, science and technology. At GNIOT, infrastructure, curriculum, faculty and students i.e. four basic component of education system are perfectly blended to ensure our vision.

The fresher's was organized by Ms Minakshi Awasthi, Dr. Rajesh Pathak and Ms. Vasudha Tiwari, on behalf of GNIOT Cultural club. The freshers party was lined with number of dance performances by rst year and second year students alike. Also the students staged a play. The highlight was the fashion show in which Mr. and Ms. Freshers were declared. Mr. Navneet Kumar Singh (ECE) was declared Mr.Fresher and Ms.Ayushi Srivastava (ECE) was declared as Ms. Freshers, 2015-16.

th5 Sep 2015 – Teacher's Day Celebration

Teacher's Day was celebrated with full zeal and enthusiasm at the institute. The day started with giving a tribute to Dr. Saravpalli Radhakrishnan. The students did all the preparations with complete energy and excitement. There were various games for the teachers and the students also performed various dances. Director-132, presided over the celebrations and congratulated the teachers on the eve of the Teachers Day.

th 12 Sep 2015 - Android App Development (CEOSCA)

A workshop on Android App Development was organized by the Department of Computer Science & Engineering under the banner of CEOSCA (Centre of Excellence in Open Source Computing and Applicaitons) on 12th September, 2015. Mr. Sudarshan Goswami coordinated the workshop. In this workshop, brief description of Android and Object Oriented Programming Techniques was discussed and a Hello World application was demonstrated and simulated in the android phone/android virtual device.

th15 Sep 2015 – Engineers Day Celebration

STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN THE EVENT

September 15 is celebrated every year in the college as "Engineers' Day" to commemorate the birthday of the legendary engineer Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. Chairman Sir welcomed the august gathering. The Keynote Speaker, Director-132, shared his experience and stated that building world-class engineering capability is a continuous process and demands commitment for continuous learning by the engineering organization and its employees.

On 16th September 2015, GNIOT CARES organized a Blood donation camp at GNIOT in association with Rotary Club of Ghaziabad, South End. Vice-Chairman, Director General, Director-132, all HOD's, President, Rtn. Pankaj Sharma; Secretary, Rtn. Gyanendra Singh; Chairman, Rtn. Mukesh Goyal of rotary Club, were present during ribbon ceremony at 9:00 A.M. First of all, Director General, Director and all HOD's of the Institute donated blood, followed by faculty, staff and students.

th16 Sep 2015 - Quiz and Aptitude Test (ME)

A quiz and an aptitude test was organized by the Mechanical Engineering Department on 17th of September 2015. The quiz comprised of questions from general mechanical engineering aptitude and some questions from technical and non technical elds of automobile engineering. The aptitude test was a general aptitude test as per common graduate syllabus with questions from mathematics, reasoning and aptitude.

On 17th September 2015, the Mechanical Engineering department organized a Vishwakarma Pooja on Vishwakarma day. The pooja was attended by Director-132, Dean, H.O.D. (Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics & Instruments), the faculty members and students of Mechanical Engineering Department.

`ABHNANDAN ', the welcome party for the First Years students of MBA & MAM was organized by their seniors on 19th Sep., 2015. The senior students of the college synergized their efforts towards a plethora of scintillating performances in the form of traditional, fusion, and western dances, exhilarating singing performances, and a few llers, making ABHNANDAN a soulful day.

The event TECHSPARKS 2K15 was organized by Dr Rajesh Pathak (Club In-charge) on behalf of GNIOT Techno club. The event was a National Level Technical Event, conducted on 9-10th October 2015 and hosted by the Department of Computer Science & Engineering.

Google Android App development, 3-D printing workshops and Photomania Workshop were the highlights of the fest. Several other events such as Blind Coding, Paper presentation, Project Competition & Seminar Presentation were held and generated a great response from all the student participants. Total number of registrations were 800 and number of participants were 1200.

The event of visiting old age home at Sarita Vihar was organized by Dr B.P. Mishra (Club In-charge) along with Ms Himdweep Khurana & Mr Adarsh Verma, on behalf of GNIOT CARES Social club. Students of the institute visited Old Age Home on 26th Sep, 2015 and they spent the whole day with such old people who lost their memory and some of them who are not attended to by their children. The students of GNIOT CARES were blessed and felt quite happy.

rd 3 Nov 2015 nd - Essay Writing Competition (CE- 2 year)

A one hour essay writing Competition was conducted in the Department of Civil Engineering on 3rd Nov, 2015. All the students of second year, department of Civil Engineering participated in the essay writing competition. The topic was “INDUSTRIALISATION VERSES SUSTAINABILITY”. Ms. Lakshmi Singh won the prize for her good literature work on this topic.

A one hour essay writing Competition was conducted by the Department of Civil Engineering on 3rd Nov, 2015 on the topic “COMMUNAL INTOLERENCE”. All the students of third year, department of Civil Engineering participated in the essay writing competition.Mr. Masood Raza Khan(rst prize), Mr. Pulkit Aggarwal (second prize) and Mr. Lakhan (third prize).

On 07th November 2015, GNIOT Social Club organized a “ROSHNI” in GNIOT main campus. The Vice Chairman, Director-132, Dean Academics, all HOD's and personnel of GNIOT (faculty & staff) attended the donation camp. On this event, blankets were donated and also clothes, sweats, candles were distributed. For the past six years, the ROSHNI event is organized in this institute.

On 29th October, 2015, extracurricular activities were organized in EC Department for holistic development of students. The department conducted a quiz competition, poster making, Rangoli, sketching and spell bee. Students from all the years participated enthusiastically. It was a full day event which was enjoyed by students and faculty alike.

A one hour technical and non technical competition was conducted by the Department of Civil Engineering on 3rd Nov, 2015. Students got an opportunity to evaluate themselves. Knowing own IQ helps in boosting self condence and morale, and encourages them to attempt new things, ght challenges and stretch the arch to scale greater heights

Director-132 of GNIOT Engg Institute attended “National Conference & Excellence Awards on make in India and Educate in India: Role of Higher Education in making India an Education Hub” held on 12th October, 2015, in New Delhi. Our college won the award for Excellent Contribution in promoting Engineering Education in North India. The award was received by Director-132, from Prof. Anil D. Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

GNIOT CULTUTAL CLUB organized the rst investiture ceremony of the club in a grand function which was held on 28, November, 2015. Vice Chairman were the chief guest for the function. Director-132, Dean Academics and Heads of various Departments also graced the occasion by their presence.

Ms. Minakshi Awasthi and Ms. Vasudha Tiwari (Club In-charges), declared the names of the post holders. Anmol Pandey, a student of B.Tech(Final year), Civil Engineering was declared President, Culltural Club, Kumar Savino, B.Tech(Final Year), Computer Science & Engineering was declared General Secretary and Rohit Yadav, B.Tech(Final Year),Information Technology and Ms. Pragya Kulshreshtra, B.Tech(Final Year), Computer Science and Engineering students were declared Joint Secretaries of the club. Vice Chairman awarded the students with their badges. The ceremony was followed by a short and power packed cultural program and refreshments.

rd23 Dec 2015 – Christmas Celebration

On 23rd December2015, GNIOT's Cultural Club organized Christmas Day at GNIOT premises near campus hostel. Hon'ble Chairman, Vice-Chairman, cultural head in-charges Ms Minakshi Awasthi & Ms Vasudha Tiwari along with all the HOD's, faculty members and students were present on the occasion. The students had a small cultural event, followed by cake cutting ceremony in front of Christmas tree.

Industrial Automation Workshop conducted by DUCAT

A one day seminar (free of cost) was carried out on an Industrial Automation by the Department of Electronics & Instrumentation on 18th Sep, 2015. The seminar was organized by DUCAT Pvt. Ltd. The workshop saw a good response from the students. there was an interactive session in which the students could pose their queries. All the participants got a certicate of participation.

IEEE SSCS DELHI CHAPTER

Dr Howard E Michel, President & CEO, IEEE delivered very educative & interesting talk at ST Microelectronics, Greater Noida. Five faculty members along with 150 enthusiastic students of GNIOT listened eagerly to this special talk. He explained how IEEE assists students in becoming good Engineers, Networking with other professionals & skill updating. This was followed a question & answer session.

MBA IInd year students along with the Director-272, Dr. Avijit Dey, HOD-MBA-272 and Mr. Pankaj Kumar had gone to participate in the conference organized by IILM on the topic “Building Impact – Through ecosystems for bottom of the pyramid affordable housing and sanitation” on 3rd Sep. 2015. Film actor Vivek Oberoi was one of the Guest of the event.

IILM Institute for Business and Management hosted the HR Conference on September 11, 2015 on the theme “Women in Power: Changing the Business Landscape” where Dr. Savita Mohan, Director, GNIOT MBA INSTITUITE chaired one of the technical sessions. The conference had papers of international repute and the speakers gave an insight on the role of women in the changing dynamics of the society.

A workshop on Industrial Automation was successfully organized by Electrical Engineering Department in seminar hall, on 18th September, 2015, for the students of E lec t r i ca l Eng ineer ing and E lec t ron ics and Instrumentation Engineering. It was presented by PROLIFIC SYSTEM AND TECHNOLOGY Pvt. Ltd. The workshop saw a good response from the students. The theory session was followed by an interactive session where students could clear their doubts.

Industrial Visit to Parle Products Pvt. Ltd., by ME Students

STUDENTS AT PARLE PRODUCTS

An industrial visit for third year Mechanical Engineering students was organized on 19th of September 2015 to Parle Products in Bahadurgadh, Haryana. It was a semi automated plant comprising of various manufacturing and allied processes like packaging, quality testing etc. The students learned about various manufacturing processes, machines, plant layout, conveying and packaging systems, and some management and quality control methods.

Workshop on “Taguchi: An Optimization Technique”

STUDENTS INTERACTING WITH SPEAKER

The Mechanical Engineering Department organized a workshop on “Taguchi: An Optimization Technique” on 7th October 2015. The workshop was conducted by Professor Dr. T. U. Siddqui. It was divided into two sessions. The rst session was a theory session, explaining the concepts like optimization, Taguchi's methods, optimization techniques and their applications in designing and production. The second session was on the real life applications and case studies. Students were introduced to a software “Minitab”, which is used to carry out the optimization process on a computer.

On 09-10-15 Workshop on career opportunity in Built environment was successfully organized by Civil Engineering Department in Seminar hall ground oor in GNIOT in the time between 12:30pm to 2:00pm for the students of CE. It was presented by “Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors”, Amity University in the presence of HOD-CE.

IBM has a broad portfolio of middleware for collaboration, predictive analytics, software development and systems management and of course the world's most advanced servers and supercomputers.
