Based on the Path Builder results, each student is presented with a personalized Learning Path that targets and accelerates remediation mapped individual needs. Here you see all of the modules needed for mastery. A indicates that the topic has been mastered. A indicates more work is required. Select a module to explore.

Each module includes a Skills Check. A second, more discrete diagnostic that allows student a second opportunity to demonstrate mastery on the topics included in the particular module. This additional assessment helps student move more quickly through the topics and further focus on areas where they need the most help. Students then work through the activities that support each topic and can access a little or much instruction and practice as they need before moving on to the post-test for the topic.

Most topics in the Writing Skills module include a Writing Assignment with pre-set prompts that provide students additional practice opportunities within the topic of study. Assignments are submitted to and graded by the teacher. One of the many Writing Practice resources include the Pearson Writer which links to a wealth of support including Purdue Owl videos, models, and mini-lessons covering research, grammar, writing, and cross-discipline application.

The Writing Practice module is additional independent Writing Practice. The pre-set writing prompts are intended for longer, essay style responses on a variety of topics. As with all content in MySkillsLab, these activities can be assigned for specific due dates, removed or re-sequenced.

When students submit their essay, they receive instant feedback based on six traits of writing and can access the additional resources in the Writing Advisor for more discrete feedback, additional instruction, practice, and concept modeling. Each prompt allows for 3 draft submissions with instant feedback before the final draft is submitted for teacher grading.

The Reading Level module instructs and assesses comprehension via Lexile appropriate passages, diagnosis the current Lexile level (post an activity) and presents the next passages that are appropriate for the current Lexile – constantly progressing student comprehension at a pace that is right for them. Initial and current Lexile levels are always in view so students can monitor their progress

MySkillsLab uses modified Cloze-test questions to assess how well a student can apply context, comprehension and knowledge of vocabulary and help them to increase their Lexile levels. Passages are cross curricular and relevant to everyday situations to keep students engaged and applying reading concepts within all academic areas.
