1. (U^ This headquarters has reviewed the Opor'^tional Report-Lessons Learned for the q>i.arterly neriod endin? 11 fetober 1968 from He'dauartors, Amerlcal I'ivision Artillery,

2. (C) Comments follow:

a, (!') Reference item concemin(» shortai»e of artillery chiefs of section and runners, pare 8, nara^^raph 2a. The input of artillerymenis expected *o increase in January, 1969, and most will be Field Artillery Rasies (MOS 11A10), However, personnel rotation losses in the Americnl rivision will preclude any si^ificant improvement in the strength posture in MOS 11BA0 during; January, 1969.

b. (U) Reference item concemin? lack of man pack radios in artillery firing batteries, nage 10, paragraph 2b(8) and 1st Indorsement, paragraph 2h. tJo MTOS action to incorporate an A'7^£C-25 radio in each firin® hattenr has been received by this headquarters. Upon receipt of a reouest for tabular authority. Proper .lustification, and staffing with units organized under the same FTrs to Insure a like requirement exists, this headquarters will take action to Include the AN/PRC-25 radio in the authorization document as nart of the Phase I standardization update,

c. (C) Reference item concerning FADAC data for shell, illuminating, ML85, pa?e 11, paragraph 2b(9). Concur, FADAC is presently programmedto compute firing data for the old illuminating projectile, MU8, and although usable data for the MA85 projectile can be obtained, it is less accurate than the manual data obtained from tabular firing tables published for the MA85 prolectile.

d, (C) Reference item concerning FADAC data for selected ammunition, page 11, paragraph 2b(10). Concur. Since FADAC is orogranaiec to compute data for the M449, MA49B1, and M449A1 projectiles, the manual solution and the FADAC solution, using standard conditions, should be nearly the same. In the FADAC solutions reported by the Amerlcal Division Artillery, however, current met, VE, and registration corrections were included.Further experiments are being conducted to determine if the differencesin manual and FADAC solutions still exist when current met and VK are set to standard and registration corrections ignored.
