“To Know Jesus And To Make Him Known”

It is a real joy for me to welcome Dr. Jeff Wilson back to the pulpit at Al-dersgate. Jeff served at Aldersgate from 2006 to 2010, providing wonderful leader-ship during a time of growth in the congregation. He will be preaching at 8:15am in the Chapel as well as at 10:30am in the Sanctuary.

Currently, Jeff serves as the Superintendent of the Montgomery/Opelika District, the district in which Aldersgate is located. In that role since July of 2017, he serves 90 churches in 9 counties as the chief mission strategist and as an administrative resource. Known for his strategic and trustworthy leadership, Jeff recently assem-bled a vision team to consider how to address the greatest opportunities within our district. Rev. Richard Williams, our Minister of Discipleship, is participating on this team.

After serving at Aldersgate, Jeff was appointed to Dauphin Way United Methodist Church in Mobile. Prior to serving at Aldersgate, Jeff served Hurtsboro/Ft. Davis Charge and Montgomery FUMC (associate). Ordained an elder in the Alabama-West Florida Conference in 2000, Jeff earned his undergraduate degree from Cen-tre College, his master of divinity from Duke Divinity School and doctorate of minis-try from Columbia Theological Seminary.

Jeff is married to the Rev. Robin Wilson, who serves as Senior Minister of First Unit-ed Methodist Church of Opelika. Their children are Rebecca (16), Eleanor (14), and Nolen (12). One of the serendipities of United Methodist ministry is working along-side other clergy as your children grow up. It has been a joy for Christina and me.

Peace,

From Ted Davis: As you are probably aware, Chisholm Ele-mentary will be closing at the end of this school year. At this point we don't have any information about how the children at Chisholm will be zoned for next year. We are considering sev-eral options for continuing the Aldersgate Backpack Program. If possible, we would like to follow the children we currently serve, but they may not all be assigned to the same school. If they are, that school may already have a backpack program with which we could partner. Other programs exist in the city that could use a partner. We also know of two schools that do not have a program at all, and one of them may be our best option. As always, I appreciate your giving heart and how you have loved these children and look forward to moving the program forward. Please join us in praying for the children, teachers, and staff at Chisholm as they adjust to their school’s closing. Please contact me at 334-354-7853 or [email protected] if you have additional infor-mation or ideas.

The Day He Wore My Crown Musical

10:30 am Sunday, March 25

A heart stirring presentation featuring the Chancel Choir and Orchestra

In 1981, David T. Clydesdale had a vision to arrange 12 of the greatest Easter songs ever recorded that congrega-tions across our nation would enjoy. The Day He Wore My Crown quickly became one of our all -time favorite Easter Musicals and it’s timeless message is still relevant for today. Now would be a great time to come visit our Chancel Choir as we experience the majesty of our ever-lasting King with these heart-changing songs that contin-ue to speak to all generations.

Courageous Conversations Have you registered for Courageous Conversations? The Courageous Conversations project is an initiative of our Ala-bama-West Florida Annual Conference and is aimed to help the conference move from skepticism to curiosity and even open-ness to encounter God’s grace. Courageous Conversations is a toolbox that local churches can use to inspire and encourage the church and individuals to stay at the table when the anxiety and emotional turmoil is painful. Courageous Conversations intro-duces a faithful way to listen and learn more about one another in an appreciative style and in a safe space. All are welcome at these events and encouraged to attend. Go to awfumc.org for more information and to sign up for a Courageous Conversa-tion.

messages on youth ages 9 to 14. Darrell Puckett, WAKA-TV8 Anchor/Reporter for Alabama News Network, will serve as the emcee. Dinner will be provided, in addition to autograph and photograph opportunities. Sponsorships and donations will be used to purchase tickets for disadvantaged youth representing several Montgomery youth programs and are tax deductible. Ticket information will be available soon. Children of all ages and their families are invited to visit the Prayer Wall located next to our Family Welcome Center during Lent. Everyone is invited to write or draw a prayer on a slip of paper and place it in the wall. Parents are also invited to get a fam-ily Lent activity page each week leading up to Easter. The activities are a fun, yet meaningful way for children to participate in the season of Lent with their families at home. If you didn’t receive last week’s activity page, you may pick one up at the Family Welcome Center located next to the chapel. This week is Communion Sunday. Families are encouraged to worship together in our 10:30 services. A nursery is provided for children 5 and under. Parents, please clearly label all diaper bags with your child’s first and last name. If your child is potty training, please send an extra set of clothing.
