The Transvaal i^ion of the Federation of South African women,
on behalf of the isany women present at this Conference, records once
again the opposition of women to the poison of Bantu "Education, through
which the African children are being indoctrinated in the name of education#
Conference welcome:; cultural clubo and home education as the only
possible alternative to ilantu Education under the present system which
will not permit universal education in the schools*
Conference calls upon African women to protect their children against
-ontu Education, to send them to cultural clubs, to assist in establishing
more cultural clubs and upon all women to assist the clubs in every wayA
possible, for they are the only real defence a&ainst Verwoerd's attack upon
the . frican children*

XRP'rT" ^£^otOf|bM5The Transvaal Region of the Federation of South African Women
views with deep concern the Nursing Act Amendment Bill which
proposes to introduce apartheid into the nursing profession.
This will not only humiliate non-European nurses by assigning
them a lower status, despite their years of training and
experience and their devotion to their work, but this Bill
proposes to lower the standards of training of nurses, to
introduce Bantu Education into the nursing profession.
Conference condemns the Nursing Act Amendment Bill and calls
upon all nurses in the Transvaal to organise and unite in
opposition to this shameful proposal. Conference resolves
that all Transvaal members of Parliament be urged to oppose
this Bill in the coming parliamentary session.
As women and mothers, we who are assembled here at this
Conference are profoundly shocked by the outbreak of violence
and the revival of the war spirit in many parts of the world
and we feel deeply the suffering of all families involved. To
all those women, wherever they are, whoever they may be, who
endure today the agonies and hardships of violence and slaughter,
we send a message of solidarity and sympathy* Conference calls
upon the vknrernment of South Africa to do all in its power to
bring about an end to hostilities and to urge the return to
negotiation for peaceful settlements.
This Conference of Women expresses the deep concern of the
women of the Transvaal at the recent renewal in HLerksdorp
of the inhuman practice of reclassification which is causing
suffering among the Coloured people* The women of the Transvaal
deny the right of any government official to classify a human
being and we pledge our support to the Coloured people in their
efforts to oppose this vicious practice* Conference condemns
the Population Registration Act as unnecessary and its
implementation as inhuman*
t>This Conference of Women affirms the fundamental
right of all citizens to protest and to demonstrate
against unjust legislation and oppressive actions of
the government and we here resolve that if and when
legislation is introduced in Parliament to ban protests
to the Union Buildings, the Transvaal Region of the
Federation of South African Women will organise a mass
demonstration of women of all races to the Union Buildings
to uphold our rights#
