Success is seeingtomorrow todayLate B.P. Poddar (1920-1981)It is late Badri Prasad Poddar’s foresight that resulted in founding the B.P. Poddar Group. The illustrious alumnus from Calcutta University invested the intellectual property accumulated through his stint with his alma mater in entrepreneurial ventures that eventually became a boon to the society. His instinctive sense of spotting avenues and the steady focus with which he followed the goals he would set for himself, made him a name to reckon with across various sectors. A member of the West Bengal Legislature for 11 years and a member of All India Congress for over 16 years as well as Chairman in the Board of Governors of IIT Kharagpur, B.P. Poddar’s successful endeavours have both inspired and impacted sectors including industry, culture and education.

About UsIn 1999, B.P. Poddar Institute of Management and Technology (BPPIMT) was set up as a tribute to late B.P. Poddar, a visionary philanthropist, educationist and founding father of the group.

Supported by the B.P. Poddar Foundation for Education, a trust dedicated to enriching the quality of technical education in the country, the institute is affiliated to the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal (MAKAUT) and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

B.P. Poddar Institute of Management and Technology aims to better society by bettering the education system. Its ambition resets on its unique learning culture that encourages collaboration and communication and the dedication of its experienced faculty picked from diverse fields.

Over the years the B.P. Poddar Institute of Management and Technology has provided a dynamic approach to education with result oriented and innovative programmes. But it is not just in the field of education that the B.P. Poddar Group has made its mark. The multi-faceted group has successfully forayed in diverse fields be it in property development, education or in healthcare.

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organised a three-day national Conference on Information, Photonics & Communication 2017 (IPC’17) at B.P. Poddar Institute of Management and Technology in association with SPIE Student Chapter, BPPIMT which was inaugurated by honourable Chief Guest, Padmashree Prof. Ajoy Kumar Ray, Director, IIEST, Shibpur on 15th May, 2017. His motivational speech was a huge learning experience for the audience. Few other notable speakers were namely Dr. K. S. Dasgupta, Former Director IIST, Thiruvananthapuram, Prof. Debasish Datta, IIT Kharagpur, Prof. Goutam Saha, IIT

Kharagpur, Mr. Debabrata Chakrabarti, Vice President, SIMOCO and Prof. Chayanika Bose, Jadavpur University.

A symposium on Advanced Computing, Communication and Biomedical Engineering (ACCBE 2017) was organized by Dept of Information Technology, B.P. Poddar Institute of Management and Technology in collaboration with Center of Excellence for Systems Biology and Biomedical Engineering, University of Calcutta during 27 to 29 March, 2017.

A workshop on Recent Advancement in Control & Instrumentation was jointly organised by the Department of Electrical Engineering, BPPIMT and Control System Society & instrumentation Measurement Society Chapter, IEEE, Kolkata on 21st August, 2015.

A workshop was organized by the Department of Computer science and Engineering in association with Ardent Comptech Pvt. Ltd. under AIRP (Ardent Industry Readiness Program) on 5th November, 2016 aimed at bridging the gap between the academic curriculum and the industry needs.

BPPIMT has successfully created an environment that goes beyond the traditional modes of teaching and embraces state-of-the-art technology. Advanced audio-visual equipment is used to make lectures come alive. Knowledge sharing through interactive sessions, seminars, workshop, conferences and talks by reputed academicians are very much a part of the curriculum as are extra-curricular activities. A lot of emphasis is given to cultural events, quizzes, debates, social and different sports activities which not only contribute in the all encompassing development of an individual but also makes learning more fun.
