New Features That Make Security Management Easy

Advanced Data Encryption ModuleToday’s technology and economic environment requires us to be effi-cient and productive. Most organizations now recognize the economicand performance benefits of an enterprise and its systems sharing com-mon corporate network connectivity.

Clearly it’s less expensive and more efficient for the security manage-ment system to be installed and communicate over that enterprise net-work, but what about all of that security information being transmitted?

AXxess NS removes the worry and eliminates the threat by utilizing aHigh Level Data Encryption scheme that encrypts the data on the net-work between the communicating PC’s, workstations, and all hardwaredevices. AXxess NS deploys an encryption scheme called Rijndael thatuses a symmetrical key, block cipher with a 128-bit block. Rijndael isthe encryption method recognized by the U.S. Government as meetingthe Advanced Encryption Standard (AES.)

There’s no need to add expensive, external hardware devices to your net-work, AXxess NS deploys this encryption technology of symmetric keysand algorithms within the security management system software andnetwork they work with, enabling organizations to ensure the securetransfer and storage of data.

It’s also important to note that AXxess’ Rijndael Encryption Module isnot network dependent. If you elect to use other means for the connec-tivity of your system such as RS-485 or Dial up, your data can still betransferred securely using the Encryption Module.

MultiPort “Open Architecture” Integration to the MAX

Modern security management systems must allow for the seamless inte-gration of existing and future technologies. Recognizing this, the AXxess202/NS family of systems come equipped with a UniversalGateway/Interface to third party devices or systems. This capabilitycalled MultiPort resides on the AXxess server and is capable of up to 100

Database PartitioningBeyond providing the standard capability to determine what each opera-tor in the system has the capability of functionally doing, AXxess NSallows for partitioning the database. This allows diverse groups underthe management of a single AXxess NS application, to maintain securityand control exclusively of their portion of a single database. DatabasePartitioning will support multiple tenant locations at one site, and/or itwill support a single organization occupying multiple buildings andlocations.

Additional operator security is provided through the optional use ofStrong Passwords. This requires that the password be at least 6-12characters long and use three of the four available character types, i.e.upper case letters, lower case letters, alphanumeric characters, and spe-cial characters such as an * or the # sign. You may also elect to use theOperator Expiration feature, which automatically expires an opera-tor’s current password on the selected date and forces the creation of anew password, and in turn reduces the risk that a compromised pass-word will be valid in the future.

Toxic Chemical/Gas Detection: Both internally to yourfacility through HVAC sensing or externally through perimeter portals andhand-held mobile units, combustible gases, chemicals and chemical war-fare agents can be detected, reported, and responded to through seamlessintegration of their detection into AXxess.

Radiation Detection: In the area of gamma radiation andneutron detection, the system can identify special nuclear material (SNM),as well as medical and industrial isotopes. The system can identify iso-topes in one second and confirm in two seconds. The detection of thesetypes of threats can also be deployed against moving targets such as pack-ages, pedestrians, and slow moving vehicles.

Automated Vehicle Detection System: The presenceof unauthorized vehicles penetrating a secured area, trying to circumventan inspection area or even parked or idling too long, can be detected anddisplayed on the AXxess graphical floor/site plans. This integration andreporting goes well beyond standard motion detection as this sophisticat-ed, intelligent detection module can discriminate against its targets basedon valuable assessment variables such as size and time.

Video Smoke Detection: A video smoke detection modulecan be deployed using existing, conventional CCTV cameras for highvalue assets. This approach is particularly beneficial for wide-area out-door applications where previously there was no real effective solution forsmoke detection. The system software analyzes the video image and rec-ognizes the smallest amounts of smoke, even before its visible to thenaked eye. Immediately an alarm is registered at the AXxess security cen-ter along with a location map and critical response instructions.

Safe Cities™ Security System: This AXxess module linksto installed systems at municipal or state-run traffic management centers,to monitor and manage nearby roadway traffic in the event of a majorsecurity incident requiring a comprehensive response.
