Block IV Implementation Flight have already started updating maintenance and aircrew training courses, simulation devices, oper-ating concepts for the new capabilities, technical and operating manuals, oper-ational support and soft-ware sustainment. The initial training serial was deliv-ered by General Dynamics Mission Systems Canada under the Block IV contract,

supported by the Aurora Project Management Offi ce in Gatineau.

Following flight testing, with continued hands-on exposure, 404 Squadron will then take over the responsi-bility of delivering Block IV training by fall. Developing these new skills within the LRP fl eet will optimize the CP140M as an intelligence, surveillance and reconnais-sance platform with global reach and state of the art connectivity within Canada,

pected to arrive at 14 Wing in June, with the proof-of-fi t aircraft arriving this fall. The Integrated Avionics Trainer, which supports avionics technician and aircrew train-ing, was converted to the Block IV configuration in August 2018 and was the principal platform for hands-on training during prototype training in January. There is a great deal of hard work ahead, with much effort al-

ready behind us, but the en-thusiasm is building around

what will be a significant forward leap in capability and

will keep the CP140M Aurora a leader in its class.

Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members interest-ed in becoming clearance divers will be able to learn more during information sessions being held at bases and wings across Canada in February and March.

Clearance divers operate in a variety of environments both at home and abroad, from the Arctic to the deserts of Afghanistan. Their prima-ry mission is to locate, iden-tify and neutralize explosive ordnance and improvised explosive devices (IEDs), whether under the sea, on

Veterans Affairs Canada is organizing a number of events to mark the 75th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy June 6.

An overseas event and ceremonies in Canada, with the largest in-Canada events taking place in Halifax, are planned. VAC would like to invite D-Day and Battle of Nor-mandy veterans who would be willing (and medically able) to travel to these events to attend.

land, during times of peace or in combat. Clearance div-ers also conduct underwater

engineering and salvage tasks, while employing so-phisticated equipment and

the latest technologies. They are highly-trained specialists who undergo rigorous train-ing and are selected from the few who have what it takes to achieve mission success under extreme conditions.

Voluntary occupational transfer (VOT) or component transfer (CT) to become a clearance diver are now open to all Regular and Reserve Force CAF mem-bers (non-commissioned) from any occupation, with or without previous dive training/ qualifi cation. Candi-dates must be OFP qualifi ed

in their current occupation, meet the medical and fit-ness requirements and have 48 months of continuous service.

The clearance diver occu-pation has a long and storied history. The fi rst units were formed during the Second World War to disarm sea mines throughout Europe and the South Pacifi c. From their auspicious beginnings, clearance divers have been at the forefront of Royal Canadian Navy and CAF operations throughout the world, including operations

in Afghanistan, the Baltics and, most recently, Ukraine.

Consider becoming a part of one of the most thrilling, challenging and rewarding occupations in the CAF. Any CAF member interested in fi nding out how to become a clearance diver is invited to attend. There will be ses-sions February 27, 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and again 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at CFB Gagetown (Building H-5, Room 202); and February 28, 11 a.m. to noon at CFB Halifax (PSO classroom), and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Scotian/ Armoury.

contingent, VAC plans to travel to France June 3, with events running from June 4 to 8. The delegation will return to Canada June 9. Participants will need to be approved for travel by their own doctors and by VAC medical staff.

For the events in Halifax, VAC would like to have vet-erans arrive June 4, with ceremonies to be held at the Citadel, Pier 21 and the sailors’ memorial at Point Pleasant Park June 5 and 6; and return

home June 7. VAC is also partnering with VIA Rail to organize “departure ceremo-nies” at various train stations across the country in the months leading up to June 6. Boots will be placed on trains bound for Halifax, represent-ing the soldiers who travelled across the country before going overseas; the boots will

be brought to the Citadel as they arrive in Halifax.

Dear CCMS:I’m constantly being inter-

rupted by the same person at our meetings. I’m not sure what my colleague has against me, but it’s causing me to feel like I’m not con-tributing anything of value. What can I do?

Alternative Dispute Resolu-tion (ADR) doesn’t only hap-pen within the Confl ict and Complaint Management Ser-vice (CCMS) offi ce. There is a

great opportunity for anyone to participate in ADR through one-on-one conversations. This approach is early, local and informal (ELI) and helps nip confl ict in the bud. Should you choose to address this situation directly with your colleague, here is a three-step approach for raising the issue and setting a time to have the conversation.

Step 1. State the situa-tion as you see it, focusing on the problem (not the

Tracking it allVolunteer team adds order to museum’s artefact collection

The Greenwood Military Aviation Museum’s volunteer accessions team: Mary Lou Graham, Joan Patrick and Gabrielle Gough. M. Uhlman

Malcolm Uhlman,Greenwood Military Aviation Museum

Over the 20-some years of the Greenwood Military Aviation Museum’s existence, thousands of artefacts have been added to its collection - from the gigantic Argus air-craft on display in the Air Park to a small plastic ring crafted from the cockpit window of a crashed Hudson bomber by an RAF airman stationed here at Greenwood during the war.

The museum’s volunteer accession team is chaired by Mary Lou Graham, co-

chaired by Joan Patrick and ably assisted by volunteer Gabrielle Gough. These three ladies have orchestrated this critical museum function for many years.

When items are received, many through individual or family donations or received from another museum, and sometimes purchased; the ladies spring into action. The article is assessed and cata-logued; then, a determination is made to put it into storage for future use or put on dis-play within the museum. Some items are challenging and require further research

as to date and use. These unsung volunteers

are typical of the many who do what is necessary to keep

the museum’s wheels turn-ing: they are well deserving of everyone’s respect and appreciation.
