TRANSFORMING THE REGIONSCMAGLEV: The Northeast Corridor’s Transportation Solution
Imagine catching a 7:30 a.m. train in New York and arriving in time for a 9:00 a.m. meeting on Capitol Hill. Or imagine traveling from BWI Airport to downtown DC in the time it now takes from Reagan National Airport.
The Northeast Maglev (TNEM) is a U.S. company committed to addressing the Northeast Corridor’s transportation challenges by introducing the world’s fastest train – the Superconducting Maglev (SCMAGLEV) system. The SCMAGLEV system is a safe and transformative transportation solution that will revolutionize how people live and work in the most congested region of the country.
DC to New York in an hour. That’s the future of train travel.

HOW IT WORKS
Propulsion Coils
Levitation andGuidance Coils
Guideway
SuperconductingMagnets
The transformational SCMAGLEV system operates at high speeds using superconducting magnets, unlike proposed high-speed railways that would utilize the same steel wheel on rail system in use for more than 100 years.
SCMAGLEV trains are enveloped in a U shaped guideway and held in position by magnetic forces. This automatically ensures that the train is kept securely in the center of the guideway, making the system free from derailment. These forces also propel the train forward, and lift it four inches off of the ground.

The concept of superconducting magnetic levitation was originally conceived in the U.S. by American physicists in the 1960s. This concept influenced the development of the SCMAGLEV system in Japan.
After decades of research, development and testing, the Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central) is currently developing a commercial SCMAGLEV line that will connect the dense urban corridor between Tokyo and Osaka. Now, TNEM is committed to bringing the revolutionary SCMAGLEV to the Northeast Corridor.
