Do Tunes help you breathe more easily? Have you tried one of the numerous products

available to ease the symptoms of colds, sore

throats, coughs or sinus problems? Many of them

are derived from essential oils which are distilled

from plants, oils that have been used for centuries to ease respiratory discomfort. As an Aromathera-

pist I too use essential oils, but unlike the

commercial producers of the vast range of sweets

and products I do not add chemicals nor do I

process the essential oils to the point that they

lose most of their therapeutic value.

We are constantly being urged to be responsible

for our own health and wellbeing – watch what

you eat, exercise regularly, stop smoking, cut

down on the drink – so what about the effect of the products we apply daily to our bodies? Do

you ever consider what is being absorbed through

your skin? There is considerable concern about

the effect of parabens and SLS‘s (Sodium Lauryl

Sulphate), both of which can be found in most of

the ‗cleansing agents‘ and products we use daily.

From shower gels, toothpastes & shampoos to

floor cleaner and make up!

Parabens are chemical preservatives, mostly man-

made. Numerous studies and research are reveal-ing some disturbing information with links to

some cancers.

SLS is used to make foam! It‘s cheap but with

many side effects, mostly to do with skin irrita-

tions.

A number of my clients were becoming worried

about the long term effect of these ‗additives‘ and

so the PEARLAROMA range was created. By

using the purest of essential oils diluted in the

best of base products such as vegetable oil, lotion,

cream, shower gels etc - all without commonly used and harmful chemicals, we can offer truly

effective therapeutic products.

So now you know the back ground – let‘s go back

to colds! Surely using a product that contains just

pure therapeutic essential oils in Sunflower oil to

relieve cold misery and fight it off must be a more

appealing proposition than yet more chemicals

entering our bodies. But will it work I hear you ask? Simply yes, it‘s not just any old essential oils

but tried and tested for the right blend to kick a

cold into touch, (and it can be used as a preventa-

tive, how‘s that for value for money!)– give it a

try WINTER RESCUE , simple to use, handy to

carry about . And so it continues whether you‘re

looking for relief from a sore throat or sinus pain

we have a blend that can help. Hayfever or aller-

gic rhinitis is another common, often miserable,

condition that many of us (me included) have to

deal with. You can‘t take a day off but it can

make you feel rough and very low. So why not

try a blend of essential oils that calms the irrita-tion, helps you breathe and lets you get on with it!

It‘s called SPRING RESCUE and as with all our

products, no chemicals just a therapeutic remedy.

Personally, I think totally banning chemical addi-

tives from everyday life would be hard work,

time consuming (researching) and potentially

expensive. So I‘ve chosen to limit my exposure, I

really can‘t go without make up (honestly) so I‘m careful what I use in the shower or on my feet and

hands and I use gloves when washing up or

cleaning. It‘s all down to personal choice.

There are growing numbers of paraben-free

products available but generally I have found

them a bit out of my budget for daily use. As I

work with a group of like-minded therapists we

have sourced some excellent bases that make a

chemical-free shower gel or shampoo feasible,

especially as it‘s so concentrated. The hardest bit was training teenagers not to use so much! If you

find that many everyday toiletries cause irritation

maybe it‘s time you tried something kinder –
