T.M.S.S. October Newsletter Principal Message Well, despite a less than warm month of September it would appear as though we have persevered through the first month of school. Given, it has come with some growing pains, namely the adjustment to our BYOD policy, but as the days have progressed we have been pleased in our student’s growth towards adjusting their routine and leaving devices in their lockers. Indeed, staff is seeing an increase in engagement in the classroom and students are even admitting that the removal of such a distraction is proving beneficial. Further, we are proud of how much our students have embraced our new Student Mantra: Commit to G.R.I.T. (Growth – Resilience – Integrity – Togetherness). Big shout out to Allison Elmslie and Ashlyn Simoneau for unveiling it on day one; they did a tremendous job allowing students to understand where it stems from, what it means, and why it matters! If you have not seen it please visit our website. With the end of September comes an increase in formative and summative assessments. Consistent with our Student Mantra, parents, please be encouraging your students to Commit to G.R.I.T. in their studies as they “Strive for Excellence”. All the best! Well, despite a less than warm month of

September it would appear as though

we have persevered through the first

month of school. Given, it has come

with some growing pains, namely the

adjustment to our BYOD policy, but as

the days have progressed we have been

pleased in our student’s growth towards

adjusting their routine and leaving

devices in their lockers. Indeed, staff is

seeing an increase in engagement in the

classroom and students are even

admitting that the removal of such a

distraction is proving beneficial.

Further, we are proud of how much our

students have embraced our new

Student Mantra: Commit to G.R.I.T.

(Growth – Resilience – Integrity –

Togetherness). Big shout out to Allison

Elmslie and Ashlyn Simoneau for

unveiling it on day one; they did a

tremendous job allowing students to

understand where it stems from, what it

With the end of September comes an

increase in formative and summative

assessments. Consistent with our

Student Mantra, parents, please be

encouraging your students to Commit to

This month the grade 12 student of the

month is Nathan Edmunds. Nathan has truly

exemplified the Commit to GRIT philosophy

here at TMSS by constantly choosing to

challenge himself with his learning. Nathan

always has a smile on his face for everyone.

He completes all of his formatives and works

hard to ensure summatives are of a high

standard. Nathan brings positivity into the
