Micron powder from metals and their mixtures.

The main profile of our company is, the marketing and use of our innovative and unique technology for grinding of materials in the air vortex mill under code name "Tornado", which was developed by the private Research Institute of Technological Progress (SRI TP). Our company has introduced industrial methods for making and mechano-chemical activation of micro- and nano-powder in a variety of materials as from superhard materials to biomass, as developed some new materials, mixtures, composites with the new properties and attributes.

By the present moment we have completed developed of the project for building up a factory for manufacturing of metallic powder "Titanium +", the products are to be used in a powder, laser and plasma metallurgy. Construction of the plant will take place in the European Union. This presentation contains the description about some product types to be produced, as well as the summary and product description are listed below. Small-scale production is being already produced in our production facility in Prague. For further information, please contact: [email protected]

Carbides - refractory solids. Neither they are volatile nor insoluble in any of the known solvents. Titanium, boron and silicon, tungsten and circonium carbides (TiC, B4C, SiC, WC, ZrC) show a high hardness, heat resistance as the chemical inertness. Carbides are used in the manufacture of iron and steel, ceramics, various alloys as abrasive polishing materials and as reducing agents, scavengers, and other catalysts. TiC and WC are part of hard alloys to be applied in manufacturing the cutting tools; Calcium carbide CaC2 is used to prepare acetylene; Silicon carbide SiC is used by preparing of grinding wheels and other abrasives; Iron carbide Fe3C (cementite) is a part of iron and steel production process; Tungsten carbide WC and chromium carbide Cr3C2 are applied in thermal spraying.

There are new ways in the application of carbides as their compounds and mixtures on their basis in AM- technology (Additive Manufacturing) and Nano structuring which became possible through the introduction of industrial technology "Tornado" for production of micropowders of given dimension and uniformity.

Metal ions or ion-covalent metallic carbides are metal compounds which are formed by means of the metals transition of groups IV-VII as well as nickel, iron and cobalt. In such compounds, the carbon atoms are located in the cavities between the metal atoms. Hence the name originated as penetrated carbide. They are characterized by high strength and melting point. Micro powders are produced in the size range in the range of 1 to 25 micrometers.

TiC Titanium carbide, TiC, is an extremely hard (Mohs 9-9.5) refractory ceramic material, similar to tungsten carbide. It has the appearance of black powder with the sodium chloride (face-centered cubic) crystal structure. It occurs in nature as a form of the very rare mineral khamrabaevite - (Ti,V,Fe)C. Titanium carbide is used in preparation of cermets, which are frequently used to machine steel materials at high cutting speed. It is also used as an abrasion-resistant surface coating on metal parts, such as tool bits and watch mechanisms. Titanium carbide is also used as a heat shield coating for atmospheric reentry of spacecraft.

WC Is a chemical compound (specifically, a carbide) containing equal parts of tungsten and carbonatoms. In its most basic form, tungsten carbide is a fine gray powder, but it can be pressed and formed into shapes for use in industrial machinery, cutting tools, abrasives, armor-piercing rounds, other tools and instruments, and jewelry.

Tungsten carbide is approximately two times stiffer than steel, with a Young's modulus of approximately 530–700 GPa (77,000 to 102,000 ksi), and is double the density of steel—nearly midway between that of lead and gold. It is comparable with corundum (α-Al2O3) in hardness and can only be polished and finished with abrasives of superior hardness such as cubic boron nitride and diamond powder, wheels, and compounds.

B4C is an extremely hard boron–carbon ceramic, and ionic material used in tank armor, bulletproof vests, engine sabotage powders, as well as numerous industrial applications. With a Vickers Hardness of >30 MPa, it is one of the hardest known materials, behind cubic boron nitride and diamond.

ZrC It has the appearance of a gray metallic powder with cubic crystal structure. It is highly corrosion

resistant. This Group IV interstitial transition-metal carbide is also a member of ultra high temperature ceramics.

Al2O3Aluminium oxide is a chemical compound of aluminium and oxygen with the chemical formula Al2O3. It is the most commonly occurring of several aluminium oxides, and specifically identified as aluminium(III) oxide. It is commonly called alumina, and may also be called aloxide, aloxite, or alundum depending on particular forms or applications. It occurs naturally in its crystalline polymorphic phase α-Al2O3 as the mineral corundum, varieties of which form the precious gemstones ruby and sapphire. Al2O3 is significant in its use to produce aluminium metal, as an abrasive owing to its hardness, and as a refractory material owing to its high melting point.

ZrO2

is a white crystalline oxide of zirconium. Its most naturally occurring form, with a monoclinic crystalline structure, is the mineral baddeleyite. A dopant stabilized cubic structured zirconia, cubic zirconia, is synthesized in various colours for use as a gemstone and a diamond simulant.
