Modeling

Page 17: Tips & Ticks Vol I

What happen if Modeling can not load four view ports?

Occasionally, when you open Modeling, there are only one or two view

ports. It is because the user can not select the template file made by

YFCAD. User can configure the setting by following the steps below:

1. Show startup dialog box

Enter “config” in command line and press ENTER. Switch to

“System” label and change the setting of Startup to “Show Startup

dialog box”.

Create new file or start

“acadiso.dwt”. You can also create your own template by using

InteriCAD.

How to use original AutoCAD drawing in Modeling?

When we open an original AutoCAD drawing directly in Modeling, we

cannot use four view ports to draw.

Since the template setting in the drawing is different from the template

used by Modeling .

There are three ways to solve this problem:

Copy and Paste

A: Open AutoCAD file and InteriCAD file;

B: Switch to AutoCAD drawing window, and then select copy

button on the toolbar or enter “copybase” command;

C: Specify base point, and then select objects to copy. Press Enter

or right click to finish this command;

D: Switch to InteriCAD drawing window, and then select paste

button on toolbar or enter “pa” command. Specify an insertion

point to insert the object.

ENTER or right click to finish the command.

to break compound object, such as an entire room or several

objects, into component objects.

What happen if the icons on the toolbar of VR turn larger or

turn black?

The command icons on the toolbar turn larger

If the user doesn’t perform any operation in VR or restart the

operating system after hybernating, the command icons on the

toolbar might turn larger. User could reload the menu to solve this

problem.

Operation: Select “Refresh Menu” from “File” menu, then the

icons will be renewed.

The command icons on the toolbar turn black

The icons turn black on some computers because the color quality

of the monitor is 16bit or even smaller. Change the color quality to

What happen if the edges of the circular ceiling or a model

are not smooth after being exported to VR?

This problem is caused by low export precision. You have two ways to

solve it.

A: Export models with higher precision. When customer wants to

export models to VR, select option “Normal+4” in this pop-up

window to use highest precision.

B: Use polygon to replace the circle (for example, a polygon with

64 sides).

How to export scene from Modeling to VR with proper mesh

size?

When exporting model from Modeling to VR, customer need to set the

mesh size.

The smaller the mesh size, the larger the size of file will be. The larger

the mesh size, the smaller the size of file will be.

To ensure that the data size of exported model won’t affect calculating

speed, customer needs to set a proper mesh size.

On average, use default setting is ok.

For larger scene, such as outdoor

building, shopping mall, and exhibition

hall, it is recommended to set a bigger

mesh size, such as 1000, 1200, and so

on. This way, the data size will be

smaller and more convenient to

operate.

Similarly, to get a better light effect, user could merge the models near

light source into VR using smaller mesh size. This way, customer can

get better light effect, and the data size won’t be too large.
