Tips On Decorating Walls With Posters
What kind of posters you want
pg. 2
Whether you want to decorate the walls of your bedroom or your office,
posters can be a cost-effective option. Posters come in all shapes and sizes,
themes and styles. Here are some tips to remember when decorating your
walls using posters.
Decide what kind of posters you want
There are many types of posters you can buy. You can even make some of
your own and have these printed and framed. If you want posters that don’t
fade quickly and will last a long time, buy
professionally made ones. You don’t need to
have a specific theme for your posters, but it
would be good if they look cohesive with the
rest of your space. Choose a poster that fits with
the use of the room. A wide-angle photographic
landscape can make a windowless apartment
bedroom more inviting. Famous quote posters
can also add visual interest to your bedroom
while inspiring you at the same time. Movie
posters can be a great addition to your home theater. Recipe posters will
double as cookbooks in your kitchen. Motivational posters can remind you
of your goals if you hang it on your home gym or office walls.
Inspirational posters can also be worthwhile additions to any room. Law of
attraction posters will help you focus more on the positive instead of the
negative thoughts.

Survey your space
Determine whether buying one or two large posters or grouping several ones
will look better on your wall. Make sure to relate art to wall size. If you have
narrow walls, smaller posters may be better. Big wall spaces on the other
hand lend themselves well to big, solitary posters. Test an arrangement of
posters by laying everything out on a large table or on the floor, playing with
combinations until you find one that looks right to you. By doing this, you
avoid damaging your walls with your indecision.
Mind your furniture
Generally speaking, when hanging any wall art, like posters, it should not be
longer than the width of the furniture below it. If you are placing a poster
over a table or couch, it should not be more than 75% of the furniture’s
width.
Check for visual weight
Visual weight is not the physical weight but instead how visually heavy the
colors used in the poster are. Reds, greens, and blues are visually heavy,
while pinks, yellows, and whites are brighter and lighter. Choose posters
whose visual weight complements the rest of the visual elements in your
space.
