First Base: Keynote Speaker Mike Veeck, president and owner of the St. Paul Saints Mike will share tips for small business success the Saints have featured going back to 1993. He will also share the underlying principles of his book, Fun Is Good: How to Create Joy & Passion in Your Workplace & Career. Mike, who has had his ups-and-downs with his career in baseball (including Disco Demolition Night with the White Sox in 1979 and Mime-o-vision with the Saints in 1993) will share some life lessons as well in his engaging and entertaining style. He will also provide information about how the Saints expanded into Dakota County with their Sports Academy in Lakeville and an update on their new ballpark that will be built in St. Paul. Second Base: Lending to Small Business Success, U.S. Bank Craig Veurink, senior vice president and regional manager for U.S. Bank Business Banking will provide an inside look as to what banks are looking for from a small business when determining if they qualify for a loan. He will also provide information about programs that are available for businesses all the way from the start stage to one that has matured in its life cycle. Third Base: Business Panel Local business owners that have accessed resources in Dakota County will provide insight into their experience on how these steps helped grow their business.
