Tioman – 2 weeks itinerary
Tioman and its surrounding islands have much to offer to yachtsmen. No marinas, just wilderness in
a snorkelling & diving paradise…
This itinerary is based on a 12 nights / 13 days route however if you’re planning to stay a bit longer,
you’ll certainly enjoy spending one more day in some of those beautiful anchorages.
Day 1: Arrival in Tioman
The airport is only 200m away from our base (we can organize to have your luggage carried by a tuk-
tuk), where our staff will welcome you. Boarding is planned at 5pm in Tekek Marina. In the evening
you can enjoy a stroll along the beach and eat onboard or in the village.
Day 2: Salang Bay, 4 nm
After the technical and navigation briefings, a 45 mn navigation North towards Salang bay. Moorings
in front of one of the most beautiful beaches of the island, edged with a few local shops and bars
bustling at night. First swimming and farniente in Tioman…
Day 3: Pulau Tulai, 7 nm.
Heading towards a beautiful sandy beach on a desert island. With an overnight stop in this bay, BBQ
on the beach is a “must do”!
Day 4: Pulau Seri Buat, 18 nm.
Navigation towards Coral Island, mooring in front of a magnificent white sandy beach. Close to the
shore, you will see varans: these giant lizards sometimes reach 3 meters, directly coming from
prehistoric times. Snorkelling among very rich and varied sea beds.
After lunch, 3 hours of navigation to reach Pulau Seribuat / Pulau Sembilang. Mooring between two
islands. Exploration of mangrove. You can enjoy a stroll in « Robinson Crusoe's » way along a wide
strip of white sand joining both islands at low tide.
Day 5: Pulau Harimau and Pulau Babi Besar, 15 nm.
Navigation through « stick of islets » of Pulau Harimau & Pulau Rawa. You can swim in crystal waters,
before a lunch in this preserved paradise.
Sail toward Pulau Tengah (where Survivor program was shot). Swimming & snorkelling in these
transparent waters.
Day 6: Pilau Sibu, 15 nm.
You’ll find a peaceful atmosphere on the beach, with a few local bars and restaurants for a nice «
happy hour ». It is the favourite destination for Singaporean tourism.
South of the island, Tenga, has been declared a national park to preserve its reefs and the Giant
Leatherhead Turtles that lay their eggs here between June and August.
Day 7: Pulau Tinggi, 6 nm.
This island has a 650 meter volcanic peak. In the southern part, there is a series of small islets with
fantastic beaches and shoals. Among those is the famous One Tree Rock.
Day 8 and 9: Pulau Aur South, 25 nm + second night in the North 4 nm.
Sail to the most beautiful island of the Tioman archipelago. Moorings and lunch in the channel
between Aor & Pulau Dayang. The inhabitants of Aor live of fishing and agriculture (many coconut
palm trees). This island offers many fine white sandy beaches, clustered with big granite rocks,
looking like the ones in the Seychelles. After lunch, island excursion, with quite easy ascent till top of
Batu Berhala, a very impressive rock formation. At the top, you will discover a splendid view point of
the Tioman archipelago.
A 10 mn walk will lead you to a typical village with its police station, its school, tiny post office etc....
Day 10: Pulau Pemanggil, 12 nm.
Snorkelling above a 19th century commercial ship wreck, at 10 meters depth. Corals offer an
outstanding range of colours and you are surrounded by hundreds of fishes. Lunch on a mooring
North West of the island, with typical fisherman huts along the beach.
Navigation along the coast and moorings close to some of the most beautiful beaches: swimming
and snorkelling in crystal waters, full of corals and multicoloured fishes. Lunch BBQ on a beach. You
will hear the screams of numerous local minas. In the evening, back to the mooring into the channel.
Day 11: Tioman Teluk Juara, 15 nm.
There is a small village ashore and several resorts. A scenic walking track runs back over the
mountain to Tekek village. You can visit the Tortules Interpretation Center located in the southern
part of the bay.
Day 12: Pulau Tumok with a stop in Muku, 14 nm.
Visit the waterfall and the fishing village in Muku, before heading to the last overnight anchorage.
Day 13: Tekek, 3 nm
Disembarking is planned for 11am.
Discovery of Tekek, administrative & commercial centre of the islands. There you can purchase local
handcraft on the market. The village « stretches » along a 800 m road, giving the opportunity of a
last walk.
