I guess you may have noticed that in order to make corrections, you naturally have to go back to points where you have committed mistakes in, to correct them. Well, that is the general procedure. If you’re not familiar with using computers, you tend to use the BACKSPACE when correcting parts of your document.

Do one of the following:

Move the cursor to the location of the text to be inserted, and then type the additional text. For example: to change the word clan to clean, simply insert an “e” between “l” and “a” instead of deleting and retyping the whole word.

By default, the Insert Feature should be turned on. Look at the Status Bar to verify if the OVR (Overtype) indicator is turned off (gray). If OVR is turned on (black), you’re currently in Overtype mode.

Inserting text doesn’t apply only to a character; you can also insert a word, sentence, paragraph, or even a page. Just make sure that the Overtype indicator on the Status Bar is off.

Overtyping means typing over an existing text. It means that you do not have to delete the text to type the correct one. To verify if you’re in Overtype mode, look at the Status Bar.

Do one of the following:

On the Tools Menu, select Options, click the Edit Tab, then click the Overtype Mode Checkbox.

Double-click the OVR Button on the Status Bar.

Press the INSERT Key.

Make sure that you’re cursor is positioned

at the point where you want to begin typing over existing text, before switching to overtype mode. After doing this, type the new text.

The Click and Type feature allows you to quickly add text to a position on a page. Through, you do not have to perform the necessary formatting tasks like pressing the ENTER Key or Tabs Key. Just double click the spot where you want to add text in, then type the new text. Click and Type automatically positions the text at the spot you’ve double-clicked. By default, Click and Type is turned on.

Follow these steps:

1. On the Tools Menu, select Options.

2. Click the Edit Tab.

3. Click the Enable Click and Type Checkbox.

To change an existing text to a new one, simply select the text that you want to change. Then type the new one. To select the text, just double-click it.

Highlighting texts simply means selecting the text then that you want to include in certain tasks like cutting, copying, and pasting.

You can select a character, a word, a group of words, an entire text line, a sentence, a paragraph, a large block of text, or an entire document.

Do one of the following:

Click before (or at the left of) the character and then drag to select the character.

Move the cursor before the character. Hold the SHIFT Key, then press the Right-Arrow Key.

Double-click the word.

Click before the word and then drag to select the word.

Move the cursor before the word, hold the SHIFT+CTRL Keys, then press the right-arrow key to select the words.

Hold down the ALT Key, then drag to select the block of text.
