QUEENS UNIVERSITY OF CHARLOTTE
2018-Present Dean, the James L. Knight School of Communication: Serves as the primary
advocate and liaison for the School’s faculty and staff in regards to curriculum,
policy, program development, and resource allocation. Serves as a member of the
Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs’ leadership team, and engages in
shared governance through several university committees such as the President’s
Cabinet, the Provost Council, and the Faculty/Deans Council. Leads the
development and implementation of University’s strategic plans at the School level.
WEST CHESTER UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA
2015-2017 Special Assistant to the Provost: Provost’s Office. Served on the Provost’s
leadership team and provided counsel on the communication messages from the
Provost’s Office, university diversity efforts, and other initiatives as assigned.
2014-2015 Communication Consultant: for the Dean of the College of Business and Public
Affairs. Assisted the dean in creating specific messages that were effectively
communicated to various audiences.
2007-2017 Chair, Department of Communication Studies.
Managed a department of 500+ majors, 30+ faculty members, and 14-18 adjuncts.
Provided leadership and supervision of all academic programs (graduate,
undergraduate, and gen. ed.), the department budget, the faculty, and advising.
2008-2014 Chair, Space Allocation Committee, West Chester University.
Elected position that chaired committee meetings that reviewed space requests that
were submitted to the President via the Provost, monitored the comprehensive
facilities plan, and consulted with the President/Provost on space/facilities as needed

Elected position that served as a liaison between department chairs and various
campus constituencies such as the President, Provost, HR, etc. on issues that
impacted university governance. Organized and facilitated the monthly meetings.
Served as Vice-Chair (2009-10).
2006-2007 Co-Chair, the Multicultural Faculty Commission, West Chester University.
Appointed by the President to the MFC which served as a liaison between the
administration and multicultural faculty to address issues relating to recruitment and
retention. Co-Founder of the MFC. Advisor Board (2008-2010).
THE DISCIPLINE OF COMMUNICATION STUDIES
2013-2015 Team Leader, the Tuning Project, the National Communication Association
(NCA). Appointed by the President of NCA to serve as one of six team leaders who
led faculty workgroups to create student learning outcomes for the discipline of
communication studies. NCA has received the largest grant in its history (over
$680,000) from the Lumina Foundation to fund this project.
2004-2006 Second Vice-President, the Eastern Communication Association (ECA).
Planning committee member who assisted with the organization and hosting
of the 2006 ECA conference, “Transforming Communication and Community.” April 26-30, in Philadelphia. ECA is the oldest of the regional communication
associations.

African American & Latino Male Retention Task Force (AALMRTF)
Consultant to Committee (2013-2014). Appointed by the President to the AALMRTF to
investigate and develop strategies to address the retention and graduation “achievement gap” of African American and Latino males enrolled at WCU.
Office of Social Equity
Social Equity Advisory Board (2004 – 2010). Assisted the Office of Social Equity in
recruiting and retaining multicultural faculty (through the Douglass Scholars Program,
attending recruitment conferences such as COMPACT, inviting speakers to campus, and
reviewing social equity grants).
Brother to Brother Program (2009-2010). Steering Committee member for a program that
aimed to improve the retention rate of African American and Latino males on campus. This
program was funded through a PASSHE Grant.
Faculty Mentoring Project (2005-2006). Coordinated with Dr. Lauri Hyers a three part study
on the mentoring practices at West Chester University (sponsored by the College of Arts and
Sciences, the Provost, and Social Equity. *This project led to the creation of West Chester
University’s Mentoring Program in 2008—Co-Founder of WCU’s Mentoring Program.
