Timothy Higgins: A Brief Overview of Modest Needs

As a supporter of Modest Needs, Timothy Higgins helps the charity assist those in need, but often overlooked by traditional aid programs.

While there are many charitable organizations and government-funded services that provide assistance to individuals and families in poverty, there is a lack of similar resources for the so-called “working poor” among us. Modest Needs is a non-profit that strives to provide assistance to this segment of needy families, as well as to smaller non-profits that are trying to gain traction to help others.

Introduction

Specifically, Modest needs endeavors to save working families in danger of falling into poverty from permanent instability; assist individuals who are momentarily unemployed but capable of work and looking; and lend a hand to persons who are usually self-sufficient but challenged by temporary medical expenses.

The organization currently provides six categories of outright grants:• New employment grants• Bridge grants• Hurricane Sandy relief grants• Self-sufficiency grants• Emergency funds• Non-profit grants
