Piano Institute FacultyMoores School Associate Professor and Juilliard graduate Timothy Hester has concertized as soloist and chamber musician in Britain, France, Italy, China, The Netherlands, Mexico, Canada, Japan, Colombia, Singapore and Taiwan. He has collaborated with internationally known vocalists and instrumentalists and performed at festivals such as NYC Bargemusic Series, the Ojai Festival, Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival, Park City International Chamber Music Festival, Texas Music Festival, Schlern International Music Festival and OK Mozart Festival as well as performing regularly with Da Camera of Houston. His teachers were renowned pedagogue Adele Marcus and UH Professor Emeritus Albert Hirsh.
Tali morgulis has appeared in UK, Italy, Spain, Germany, Belgium, Croatia, Taiwan, China, Israel and the U.S. as a soloist and chamber musician. Dr. Morgulis is a prizewinner of numerous national and international piano competitions. She has studied with Michael Boguslawsky, Wha Kyung Byun and Lev Natochenny. Dr. Morgulis joined the Moores School of Music faculty in 2008, after serving on the faculty of Fort Hays State University in Kansas for three years.
Luba Poliak has appeared in Russia, Israel, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Portugal, Australia and the U.S. as a recitalist and a chamber musician. Her recent performances have included a solo recital at the
Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series in Chicago, the Embassy Series in Washington, D.C. as well as recitals at the 92nd Street Y in New York, Jordan Hall in Boston and numerous other appearances in venues around the country. Dr. Poliak is a graduate of the Rubin Academy in Tel Aviv (BM), New England Conservatory in Boston (MM) and Stony Brook University (DMA). She served as guest piano faculty at Lawrence University, Wisconsin and currently lives and teaches in New York City.
Steinway Artist, mayron Tsong, has appeared in the United States, Canada, Russia, Sweden, Italy, Taiwan, Hong Kong and China. Her first CD, released by Centaur Records, won a Global Music Award and rave reviews in American Record Guide. Mayron has collaborated with the Brentano String Quartet, Philharmonic Quintet of New York, Miró String Quartet, Vega String Quartet, James Campbell, George Taylor and Antonio Lysy. Holding graduate degrees in both Piano Performance and Music Theory from Rice University, Mayron is currently Associate Professor/Artist Teacher and Director of Undergraduate Studies at the School of Music at the University of Maryland. She previously served as Head of Keyboard Studies at the University of Lethbridge and at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
John weems, 1991 Texas Music Teachers Association Pre-Collegiate Teacher of the Year, has established himself as one of the outstanding pre-college teachers in the nation. His students excel in local, state, national and international competitions and continue to garner scholarships and competition prizes in their college careers. In demand as a national clinician, Mr. Weems has presented workshops for the Texas, New Mexico and New York Music Teacher Associations, the Eastman School of Music and the Music Teachers National Association conventions. Mr. Weems has been the subject of feature articles and interviews in publications, including American Music Teacher.
Nancy weems has won top prizes in the International Recording Competition and the U.S. Artistic Ambassador Program. She frequently appears in recitals and master classes throughout the U.S., Europe, Russia, Mexico, Asia and Central America. Ms. Weems was named Collegiate Teacher of the Year in 1991 by the Texas Music Teachers Association, and in 1995 received the Teaching Excellence Award, presented by the University of Houston, where she is currently the Madison Endowed Professor of Music and the coordinator of the Piano Area for the Moores School of Music. Her recordings can be heard on the Bay Cities and Albany labels.
