Before GettingStarted...

This section provides an overview of yourwatch and explains how to connect with aphone. Connecting with a phone makes itpossible to synchronize the watch’s timesetting with information acquired from thephone, and to view the step count of the watchand its stopwatch data on the phone screen.

Timekeeping ModeWhile a step count is displayed, the graphicdisplay area shows your progress towardsyour daily step target. For other types ofdisplay, it changes with the count of thecurrent time’s seconds.

Stopwatch ModeWhile the Target Time function is enabled, thegraphic display area indicates to what extentyou attained your target time. While the TargetTime function is disabled, it changes with thecount of the stopwatch elapsed time seconds.Timer ModeThe graphic display area shows thepercentage of the countdown that remains.Dual TimeThe graphic display area is synchronized withthe Dual Time seconds.

Shifting the HandsHand shift moves the hands out of the way foreasy viewing of display information.

Using Mobile Link witha Mobile Phone

While there is a Bluetooth connectionbetween the watch and phone, the watch timesetting is adjusted automatically. You can alsochange the watch’s other settings.

Getting ReadyTo connect the watch with a phone, first installthe CASIO “G-SHOCK Connected” app on thephone and then use Bluetooth to pair thewatch with the phone.

●A Install the app on your phone.In Google Play or the App Store, search for theCASIO “G-SHOCK Connected” app andinstall it on your phone.

●B Configure Bluetooth settings.Enable the phone’s Bluetooth.

●C Pair the watch with a phone.Before you can use the watch in combinationwith a phone, you first need to pair them.

1. Enter the Timekeeping Mode.l Navigating Between Modes

2. Move the phone to be paired with close to(within one meter of) the watch.

3. On the phone’s Home Screen, tap the “G-SHOCK Connected” icon.

4. Follow the instructions on the phone’sscreen to pair with the watch.● If a pairing prompt message appears,

perform the operation shown on thephone screen.

● If pairing fails for some reason, performthe procedure again from step 1.

Auto Time AdjustmentYou can configure watch settings to connectwith a phone at preset times each day andadjust its time settings in accordance withinformation obtained from an online timeserver.● Using Auto AdjustYour watch adjusts its time setting four timesa day according to a preset schedule. Itperforms the adjustment operationautomatically as you go about your daily life,without any operation required by you.

● If there is a World Time City specifiedwith G-SHOCK Connected, its time willalso be adjusted automatically.

● The watch will connect with the phoneand perform auto time adjustment ataround 12:30 a.m., 6:30 a.m., 12:30p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The connection isautomatically terminated after autotime adjustment is complete.

● Triggering Immediate Time AdjustmentThe watch will synchronize its time setting tothat of the phone immediately when they areconnected with each other. Whenever youwant to adjust the watch’s time setting basedon your phone's time, perform the procedurebelow to connect with a phone.

1. X Press (D).This causes e and [ADJ] to flash on thedisplay. e will stop flashing when aconnection is established between thewatch and phone, and the watch’s timesetting will be synchronized with that ofthe phone.

Viewing Pedometer DataG-SHOCK Connected can be used to view thedata below, which is measured by the watch.● 24-hour step count, exercise intensity, and

physical exertion● Whether or not there is a stopwatch

measurement or timer measurement(24 hours of data displayed by dividing it into30-minute segments.)

Viewing Stopwatch DataThis section explains how to send lap timesand split times (up to 200 records) stored inwatch memory, and other data to your phonefor viewing with G-SHOCK Connected.

● Sending Stopwatch Data to a PhoneUse the procedure below to send data fromthe watch to a phone.

1. Y Tap the “G-SHOCK Connected” icon.2. X Hold down (D) for about two seconds.

Configuring StopwatchTarget Time Settings

You can use G-SHOCK Connected toconfigure settings for up to 10 target times.Target times can be set in one-second units,for a total of up to 24 hours.● For information about target times, refer to

Configuring ProgrammableTimer Settings

You can use G-SHOCK Connected toconfigure programmable timer settings andcreate a group of multiple timers.● For information about the programmable

Configuring World TimeSettings

Specifying a World Time City with G-SHOCKConnected causes the watch’s World TimeCity to change accordingly. The standardtime/summer time setting of the World Timewill be adjusted automatically without anywatch operation required by you.

● G-SHOCK Connected World Time letsyou select from among approximately300 cities as the World Time City.

The watch switches between standardtime and summer time automatically.

● “OFF”The watch always indicates standardtime.

● “ON”The watch always indicates summertime.

Note

● While the summer time setting is“Auto”, the watch will switch betweenstandard time and summer timeautomatically. You do not need toswitch between standard time andsummer time manually. Even if you arein an area that does not observesummer time, you can leave thewatch’s summer time setting as “Auto”.

● Changing the time setting manuallywith a watch operation will cancel autostandard time/summer time switching.

● A G-SHOCK Connected screenshows information about summer timeperiods.

● Swapping Your World Time and HomeTime

1. Y Tap the “G-SHOCK Connected” icon.2. X Hold down (D) for about two seconds.

Adjusting Hand AlignmentIf the hands are out of alignment even thoughauto time adjustment is being performed, useG-SHOCK Connected to adjust them.

Phone FinderYou can use phone finder to trigger a tone onthe phone to make it easy to find. The tone isforced to sound even if the phone is in vibratemode.

Important!

● Do not use this function in areas wherephone call tones are restricted.

● The tone sounds at a high volume. Donot use this function when listening tophone output over earphones.

1. X If the watch is connected with a phone,press any button besides (L) to terminatethe connection.

3. X Hold down (D) for about five secondsuntil [Find] appears on the display.A connection will be established betweenthe watch and phone, and then thephone’s ringtone will sound.● It will take a few seconds before the

phone tone sounds.

4. X Press any button besides (L) to stop thetone.● You can press any watch button to stop

the phone tone, but only during the first30 seconds after it starts to sound.

Configuring Watch SettingsYou can use G-SHOCK Connected to specifythe amount of time until the Bluetoothconnection is automatically terminated andthe illumination duration, and to configureother settings.

Important!

● If you have problems establishing aconnection, it could mean that G-SHOCK Connected is not running onthe phone. On the phone’s homescreen, tap the “G-SHOCKConnected” icon. After the app startsup, hold down the watch’s (D) buttonfor about two seconds.

Note

● The connection will be terminated ifyou do not perform any operation onthe watch or phone for a fixed amountof time.To specify the connection limit time,perform the following operation with G-SHOCK Connected: “Watchsettings”n“Connection time”. Next,select a setting of 3 minutes, 5 minutes,or 10 minutes.

Canceling a Connection with aPhone

To terminate a Bluetooth connection, pressany watch button besides (L).

Using the Watch in a Medical Facilityor Aircraft

Whenever you are in a hospital, on an aircraft,or in any other location where connection witha phone may cause problems, you canperform the procedure below to disable autotime adjustment. To re-enable auto timeadjustment, perform the same operationagain.

1. Y Tap the “G-SHOCK Connected” icon.2. X Hold down (D) for about two seconds.

PedometerYou can use the pedometer to keep track ofyour step count while walking, engaging inyour normal daily activities, etc.

Counting StepsIf you are wearing the watch correctly, thepedometer will count your steps as you walkor engage in your normal daily activities.

Important!

● Since this watch’s pedometer is awrist-worn device, it may detect non-step movements and count them assteps. Also, abnormal arm movementswhile walking may cause a miss countof steps.

● Getting ReadyTo enable the most accurate step count, wearthe watch with the face on the outside of yourwrist and tighten the band securely. A looseband may make it impossible to obtain correctmeasurement.

● Checking Your Progress to Your DailyStep Target

The graphic display area shows your currentprogress toward achieving the daily steptarget specified by you.Example: Daily target of 10,000 steps

Note

● The step count can show a value up to999,999 steps. If the step countexceeds 999,999, the maximum value(999,999) remains on the display.

● To prevent miscounts, the displayedcount does not increase for about 10seconds after you start walking. Afteryou have been walking for about 10seconds, the correct count appears,including the steps you took during theprevious 10 seconds.

● Graph contents are normally updatedat the top of each hour.

● The step count is reset to zero atmidnight each day.

● To save power, step counting stopsautomatically if you take off the watch(no detectable watch movement) andyou do not perform any operation fortwo or three minutes.

● They are also updated when any oneof the events below occurs.ーWhen accelerometer operation is

stopped to save powerーWhen counting is not possible due to

accelerometer error or insufficientpower

Resetting Today’s StepCount

1. Enter the Timekeeping Mode.l Navigating Between Modes

2. Hold down (B) and (D) for about twoseconds.This resets the step count.

Specifying a Daily StepTarget

You can specify a daily step goal within therange of 1,000 to 50,000, in units of 1,000steps.

1. Enter the Timekeeping Mode.l Navigating Between Modes

2. Hold down (A) for about two seconds.Release the button when [SET] stopsflashing.● This causes the current daily step target

to flash.

3. Use (D) and (B) to change the daily steptarget setting.

4. Press (A) to exit the setting screen.

Causes of Incorrect StepCount

Any of the conditions below may make propercounting impossible.● Walking while wearing slippers, sandals, or

other footwear that encourages a shufflinggait

● Walking on tile, carpeting, snow, or othersurface that causes a shuffling gait

● Irregular walking (in a crowded location, ina line where walking stops and starts atshort intervals, etc.)

● Extremely slow walking or extremely fastrunning

● Pushing a shopping cart or baby stroller● In a location where there is a lot of vibration,

or riding on a bicycle or in a vehicle● Frequent movement of the hand or arm

(clapping, fanning movement, etc.)● Walking while holding hands, walking with

a cane or stick, or engaging in any othermovement in which your hand and legmovements are not coordinated with eachother

● Normal daily non-walking activities(cleaning, etc.)

● Wearing the watch on your dominant hand● Walking for 10 seconds or less● Watch hand movement (by the hand shift

function, etc.)

StopwatchThe stopwatch measures elapsed time in1/100-second units for the first hour, and in 1-second units after that for up to 24 hours.In addition to normal elapsed timemeasurements, the stopwatch also lets youtake split time and lap time readings. You canalso set a target time and monitor yourprogress in attaining it. You can configuresettings so the watch alerts you with a beeperand/or display indicator when you attain yourtarget.

Note

● Up to 200 split time and lap timerecords can be stored in watchmemory. Perform a lap or split timeoperation while there are already 200records in memory will cause theoldest record to be deletedautomatically to make room for the newone.

Did you recently swap your Home Timeand World Time, or manually adjust thewatch’s time setting?

Pedometer

Q1 Displayed step count is not correct.While the watch is on your wrist, thepedometer may detect non-step movementsand count them as steps.l PedometerAlso, step count problems can also be causedby how the watch is being worn and abnormalarm movement while walking.l Counting Steps

Q2 The step count does not increase.The step count is not displayed at thebeginning of a walk in order to avoidmiscounting of non-walking movements.It appears only after you have continuedwalking for about 10 seconds, with the numberof steps you took during the first 10 secondsincluded in to the total.

Q3 [ERR] appears when using thepedometer.

[ERR] (error) indicates that sensor operationis disabled because of sensor or internalcircuitry malfunction.If the indicator remains on the display for morethan three minutes or if it frequently appears,it could indicate a faulty sensor.
