A Message from Principal Brooks

Dear families,

As many of you have probably seen by now ourschool was impacted by what I believe was a falseInstagram account. Many of our kids were asked tofollow the account and the person behind it began asking inappropriate questionsof these boys. I cannot stress enough the importance of monitoring your childrenon social media. All of the kids impacted by this are smart, well-intentioned youngmen. Their parents are highly involved and they still became targets. It is simplynot safe for our kids to attempt to boost their online popularity by acceptingfollows and friend requests from people they have never actually met. I know thekids want to have as many followers as possible as that is a status statementthese days...but it truly can be dangerous. It wasn't that long ago that a child inour very own community went missing for a year after meeting someone online.Please engage your children in these crucial conversations about online safety.Their perceived popularity is simply not worth the risks. Thank you for all you dofor our school and community. Have a great week!
