PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
A big thank-you to the ‘Re-build our School’ group. They have been tenacious in gaining over 800 signatures for the petitions they organised and were all set to deliver them this Friday. Unfortunately a change in Minister Mulders diary has created a small hiccup at this stage.
Thank-you to those families who have supported the ‘Movember” cause. Over $600 was raised on the casual clothes day and a lot more money was collected in the tins located around the town. Thank-you to Nigel Mottram for organising the activity. I am sure Peter’s Project will be very happy with the final figure.
On Wednesday the Westpac Air rescue helicopter payed us a special visit. Sophie Gale was the lucky student whose name was drawn out to go for a helicopter ride. Thank-you to Port Campbell Surf Life Saving Club for nominating us for this very special treat.
This Friday we will be having our show bag stall at Santa in the Street. Each year we also have a lucky dip comprised of items donated by our students and families. Thank-you to those families who have supported our lucky dip activity. All proceeds go towards supporting those students who might otherwise miss out on excursions
Our webpage has had a facelift. It can now be accessed through your mobile phone. Learn how to do this by going to: http://www.timboonp12.vic.edu.au/

Confidence Thinking
Self-esteem is an important part of confidence. Having
good self-esteem means accepting and feeling positive
about yourself. Confidence is not just feeling good but also
knowing you are good at something.
Particular ways of thinking are very important for building
confidence. Helpful ways of thinking include:
believing that, if you try, you can succeed
finding positive ways to cope with failure that
encourage having another go
enjoying learning for its own sake by competing with
your own performance rather than that of others.
How parents can help
Confidence improves through building on small successes.
Parents, carers (and teaching staff) can help by:
explaining to children that skills develop with practise
encouraging children to persist when they don’t
succeed straight away
praising effort, persistence and improvement
making sure that goals are achievable by breaking
down large tasks or responsibilities into small steps
being ready to help when necessary, without taking
over.
And remember: “Believe you can and you're halfway
there”. Theodore Roosevelt
