5. Tools Installation And Setup
After taking a look into the product installation help, I found nothing about the Business Studio which is also an important part of the solution.
The major hurdle is finding out the installation order. The product installation generally goes smooth asking for accepting the license, selecting the installation directory (offering the default c:/tibco), and the like. Only the Administrator install asked several additional questions.
One bump I encountered in the installation was that basically what you do is unzip a file and then get to that uncompressed folder and click either TIBCOUniversalInstaller.cmd or TIBCOUniversalInstaller.exe. It would be really nice if the installation of a product comes as just one installation file. Having to support different platforms could be the cause of the weird installation procedure. That particular way of installation reminded me of other vendors such as Eclipse.
By the way, I didn't have the installation media (discs). Perhaps some adverse comments above could not apply with a load and play disc, but the download version of the installation process can be improved.
Architect’s Comment: One nice way of installation is that one of a small download installer that will prompt, wizard like, what the user needs and resolve all dependencies under the covers. Think of yum in linux world or the Web Installer tool of Microsoft, or even Eclipse Plugin installations.
Every program should be uncompressed in a separate folder, and then follow the installation order. I should follow the installation guide on the webhttps://docs.TIBCO.com/pub/activematrix_businessworks/5.9.2_may_2011/pdf/tib_bw_installation.pdf
