The half note is played for half of the duration of a whole note. The half note is displayed as 2 beats and 4 measures. Look at the picture above.

What is a minorOften referred to as diminished, the minor note is referred to as the flat note which is one half step. There are four minors.

What is the majorIntervals come from the Major scale. When you raise a diminished minor a half step it becomes a major.

What is the “Perfect” Interval

The “P” represents perfect in the interval and expresses the quality of the interval. The number is the distance between two notes. There are four perfect intervals: 1,4,5,8.

What is the Augmented interval?

If an interval is a half step larger than a perfect or a major interval it is called a augmented interval. There are 5 augmented intervals.
