The Livermore Library Board met on Monday, Aug. 31, at 6 p.m. for their regular monthly meeting. Present were Carol McKenna, Linda Scott, Marlys Trauger, Bon-nie Ricker, Kris Landolt and Deb Tilton. The meeting was called to order by Bonnie Ricker. The minutes from the Aug. 3 meeting were read by Kris Landolt. Shawn Wesley Geer of Renwick passed away Sun-day, Aug. 30, 2020, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, at the age of 54, sur-rounded by his family and loved ones. Funeral services were held Satur-day, Sept. 5, at the Renwick Baptist Church. Oakcrest Funer-al Services were in charge of arrange-ments. Shawn was born May 18, 1966, in Kansas City, KS, to Wesley and Judy (Neece) Geer. He grew up in Kansas City and graduated from Blue Valley High School in Overland Park, KS. After high school, Shawn went on to achieve his Master of Divinity from Central Bap-tist Theological Seminary in Kansas City. Shawn was united in mar-riage to Yolanda Woods on March 24, 1990, in Kansas City. They welcomed three sons and one daughter into their family, whom he loved and enjoyed watching grow. After Shawn graduated from seminary, the family moved to Plainfi eld, where he was the pastor at First Baptist Church of Plainfi eld for 15

years, before moving to Ce-dar Rapids. They moved to Renwick, in March of 2020 where he was the pastor at

the Renwick Bap-tist Church. Shawn loved to play video/board games and paint-ball with his chil-dren, as well as spending time in the workshop. He reveled in spending time with family and friends, and was passion-

ate in spreading the word of God. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Yolanda Geer of Renwick; sons, Joshua (Megan Terfehn) Geer of Shell Rock, Jacob (Jeanne) Geer of Des Moines, Caleb (Devin) Geer of Rochester, MN; daughter, Hannah Geer of Spencer; grandson, Ian Wesley Geer; step-grand-daughter, Macy Bonebrake, parents, Wesley and Judy Geer of Overland Park; sis-ter, Wendie (Scott) Berry of McLouth, KS; and two nephews. SHAWN W. GEER1966-2020

Larry (Fritz) Charles Mey-er, 75, lifetime resident of Gilmore City, passed away peacefully at The Villa Care Center of Fort Dodge on Tues-day, Sept. 1, 2020. Fritz was born on Oct. 5, 1944, to Lawrence Chris-tian and Betty (Hasenbank) Mey-er of Gilmore City and was raised on the family farm south of town. He attended Gilmore City High School and worked in plumbing and repair servic-es. In 1965, he was drafted into the military. He spent two years in Germany proudly serving the US Army. Upon returning home from the Army, Fritz was then employed at Pocahon-tas County, as a Secondary Road Maintenance Opera-tor, where he served until his retirement in 2006. Fritz was an active mem-ber of First Lutheran Church in Gilmore City. He loved all things rural and savored spending time hunting, fi sh-ing, woodworking, and col-lecting and rebuilding an-tique John Deere tractors. He enjoyed riding his an-tique tractors in parades and

tractor pulls. Fritz was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Priscilla, father Lawrence,

mother Betty, b r o t h e r - i n - l a w Ron Lowrey, and grandson Kevin Richard Thomp-son. Survivors include his six children, Zienna (Henry) Rodriquez of Stockton, CA, Corey Meyer of Humboldt, Pam

(Bill) Hendershot of West Des Moines, Duane (Rose) Thompson of Sheboygan WI, Mark (Sally) Thomp-son of Ankeny, Kevin (Erin) Thompson of Fort Dodge, 13 grandchildren, fi ve great-grandchildren, and sister Sherry Lowrey of Gilmore City. Services were held Satur-day, Sept. 5, at Harris Fu-neral Home, Gilmore City, with Pastor Tracy Nerem offi ciating. Pallbearers were Nate Hendershot, Eric Hen-dershot, Tyler Hendershot, Mitchell Thompson, Grant Thompson and Ethan Mey-er. Burial was at Marble Val-ley Cemetery following the service. The Harris Funeral Home of Gilmore City was in charge of arrangements.

LARRY C. MEYER1944-2020

Thomas Gene Nelson, 80, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020, at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital Hospice with family at his side. Tom was the son of Glenn and Edna Nelson formerly of Bradgate. He was born and raised on a farm outside of Bradgate, and lived there until he graduated from high school in 1957. Tom at-tended Eagle Grove Junior College graduating in 1959, and continued on at West-mar in Le Mars graduating in 1961 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Tom was united in mar-riage to the love of his life, Virginia Jolliffe, on Aug. 30, 1959. Three children were born from this union, Jacqueline (Brian) Bates of Stanton; Douglas (Julie) Nelson of Winterset; and Pa-mela (Craig) Moss of West Union. He was also blessed with six grandchildren, Thomas Bates, Jaimi Nel-son, Nicholas Nelson, Mal-lory Wiese, Nelson (Madi-son) Wiese and Cassandra Moss. Tom loved teaching school and coaching girls basketball, and will forever be known to his students as “Mr. Nelson.” His passion

for hard work showed in his farming, construction work, and his inability to retire.

Time with family and friends was another of Tom’s passions in life, and he spent many hours boating and pulling water ski-ers most week-ends. A highlight of these outings was on the Des Moines River in Humboldt when

Tom pulled seven skiers at one time down the river. Most who knew Tom, knew his love of music, singing and dancing with his forev-er partner, Ginny. Tom was preceded in death by his par-ents and his sisters, Clarice Artzer and Doris Hoag. Tom’s life, humor and quick wit will forever be cherished by his family, his brother, David Nelson, many nieces and nephews, and his lifelong friends, Dennis and Rachel Fuller and their fam-ily. Funeral Services were held at Our Saviour’s Lu-theran Church in Humboldt on Monday, Sept. 7. Memo-rials may be given in Tom’s memory to Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. The Mason-Lindhart Fu-neral Home of Humboldt was in charge of arrange-ments.

A motion to accept past discussions was made by Carol McK-enna, seconded by Marlys Trauger, and motion carried. Present/future and open discussion: The county meeting for 2020 will be lead by Demi from the Humboldt Library. All directors will

meet before and help Hum-boldt organize the meeting. Livermore will represent the libraries in 2021. A motion to accept the discussion and close meet-ing was made by Marlys, seconded by Carol McKen-na, and motion carried. New books ordered: The Girl in the White Van, Sur-vivor Song, The Wife Who Knew too Much, Blacktop Wasteland, The Daughters of Foxcote Manor, The Bright Lands, The Last Flight, All Eyes on Her, The Last Let-ter from Your Lover, Have You Seen Luis Velez, and The Girl You Left Behind. The next meeting is sched-uled for Thursday, Oct. 1, at 5:30 p.m.
