MEXICO● The ideal time to visit Mexico is when thelocals are celebrating. Thus, Holy Week(Easter), Grito de Independencia (September15), Day of the Dead (November 1 and 2),Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe (December12), and of course, Christmas and New Yearare good times to travel. While here, adventure must take a front seat as you gotouring. Many consider San Luis Potosi’s
FF or a refreshing and energising dash of newperspectives, go ahead and travel. While on thetrail across the globe, keep your hearts open to the
amazing work ethics of Vancouverites in BritishColumbia; the joie de vivre of Mexicans; the adventurousstreak of New Zealanders and the charming true-to-nature appeal of Argentinians. The striking lifestyle oflocals has to be felt to be imbibed. And everywhere you go,always take the weather with you...

When it wasfreezing in therest of Canadawith mercury
dipping close to -10degrees, British Columbia— a province of Canadawas experiencing anenviably pleasant weather. That’s what overwhelmedme during a week-long visithere in January.
What made an instantimpression were the people. They were hospitable andreflected an amazing senseof ownership toward theprovince. Roads were clean, parking meters were self-operated, work ethics ofevery individual wassuperior. Right from the airport manpower to thecabbies to shopkeepers, hotel staff and individuals ofhigh authority, their zeal to work and cheerfulness wasinfectious. The Indian community in Surrey andVancouver made me feel that I am not too far awayfrom India, either. So, it was home away from home, ina rather comforting manner.
One tour around the city and it was obvious that theprovince is blessed geographically. It enjoysnature’s best attractions that are truly worthboasting about. The challenge here was how to seeand do it all. Victoria, GasTown, Stanley Park,Granville Island Public Market, seaplanes harbour,Squamish villages, the University of BritishColumbia...phew! The brilliant array of must-visithighlights along with outdoor and indoor activities
one can indulge andexperience in BritishColumbia is simplyexhaustive.
There are myriads ofmunicipal, provincial andnational parks in which towalk, hike and bike. Iparticularly liked theMuseum of Anthropology, where an elderly guiderevealed her love for Kashmirto me and that she hadvisited Gulmarg, since herfather studied there as achild. With those pleasingKashmir-inspired memories, Ivisited Whistler, a ski havenlocated just 1 hour 40minutes drive fromVancouver downtown. Once
on top, I felt snowflakes kissing my face softly as westood near the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola area. Oh! whata breathtaking feeling it was when my heart meltedand my spirits soared. In the mountains, I saw kidslearning to ski on powder snow and higher peaksattracting pro skiers from across the world.
By March and April, my friendly skier guide Steveadded, with a smile, British Columbia starts gettingway more daylight. So, the chairlifts in Whistlerstay open for an extra half hour and he extended aninvitation to the World Ski & Snowboard Festival(WSSF) from April 12 - 21.
I am visiting again. What keeps You?For details: www.britishcolumbia.travel
