Admission to Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is FREE for everyone on Thanksgiving Day! In addition to your Thanksgiving Day feast, head to the Zoo for a fun day with the whole family.

Cuyahoga County Executive and County Council Reach Agreement on the 2016-2017 Budget

Agreement was reached early in the scheduled timeframe after a collaborative process between the County Executive and the County Council.

The 2.9 billion dollar biennial budget, which overcomes a 68 million dollar annual deficit, does so without adding any more debt, without raising taxes, incurring layoffs and without reduction in critical services for the neediest in the County.

At the same time the Executive and the Council agreed to fund transformative initiatives in order to position the County and its residents for the future.

“I am thrilled we were able to get to an agreement in record time with a budget that is balanced and that promotes our transformational priorities for the future,” said County Executive Armond Budish. “I truly appreciate the great leadership and collaboration from Council on what was an arduous process but one that ultimately led to this successful outcome.”

“I wish to thank my colleagues for their diligence and commitment to what is right in ensuring a balanced, responsive and fiscally responsible

budget”, said Council Finance and Budgeting Committee Chair, David Greenspan. “This budget fulfills the vision of providing an effective and efficient use of resources to deliver the highest quality of services to the residents of the county, while remaining within the fiscally prudent parameters established by the County Executive. I would like to thank the County Executive and his staff for working diligently with Council to address the challenges contained in this very complicated budget.”

The initiatives which Armond Budish and his administration put forth in this budget follow his strategic imperatives: Job Growth and Development, Fairness and Equity and Government That Gets Results.

Key funded initiatives include: •10 million dollar investment to

launch The Cuyahoga Early Childhood trust, a public-private partnership that will fund a County-wide extension of high quality pre-kindergarten to the neediest children in our community.

•A 1.5 million dollar investment aimed at catalyzing a coordinated public/private

approach, working with the City as well as area hospitals to give all babies born in Cuyahoga County the opportunity to live to their first birthday,

•Cuyahoga Jobs Creation Fund that leverages ½ of the Casino Revenue funds and other county dollars to create a long-term fund for economic development projects. The fund is not built on borrowing but is built on creating a sustainable funding source to position the County for job growth.

•Workforce Transformation plan that will coordinate currently disconnected systems already in place and that focuses on lifting residents from poverty into a sustainable family wage with benefits so that they are no longer dependent on public benefits. This transformation is aimed at supplying much-needed talent for our businesses and setting our residents up for strong wage and career pathways.

•An Innovation and performance team focused on enterprise-wide efficiencies and performance metrics.

•Continued support for the mental health and drug addiction services provided by the ADAMHS Board

•Continued support of the Demolition fund over three years.

All of these initiatives promote coordinated systems approaches that enhance what is currently working and help take those solutions to scale. They leverage public-partnerships where the County is acting as a convener and a collaborator. They are focused on helping County residents get ahead instead of picking them up when they fall behind.

“I am very proud that Council’s continued unanimous support for critical health and human services funding is reflected as a priority in this budget”, said Council President Dan Brady. “I feel confident that the 2016/2017 budget keeps our promise to the voters Cuyahoga County, who have generously supported the County’s mission. I am pleased we have been able to establish a close working relationship with the executive, which enabled us to reach consensus on the budget. This achievement sets an encouraging precedent as we move forward to meet the challenges facing our County”.

As a new school year begins and summer slowly turns to fall, I think about how the world is constant-ly changing. For some people, change is feared and avoided, for others change is exciting and seen as presenting new opportunities. Whichever view you have, change is certainly inevitable.

Those of you who have been patients of Jane L. Dodson, DDS & Associates may have noticed changes in our office.

After meeting your dental needs at 88 Center road for the past 29

years, Dr. Dodson is making a change. She is transitioning into a new career about which she is very excited. We wish her well in her new adventure and know that she will be very successful. I am proud that she has chosen me, Dr. Mychael Davis, to carry on the tra-dition that she has established over these many years. High quality dental care in a caring atmosphere will continue to be the focus of our practice. I have practiced in this area for 29 years, and am honored that you have accepted me as your new dentist.

We’ve had some other staff chang-es as well, all with the never end-

ing goal of improving our service to you. And we’ve made a slight change in the name, to Bedford Dental Associates, to emphasize our commitment to our community and to you.

Thanks for your continuing con-fidence in us and for letting us be a part of your health care team.

Yours in Health,Mychael E. Davis, D.D.S.Dr. Mychael Davis

Connected Care expands delivery of quality care beyond the hospital.

Ranked Ohio’s top hospital by U.S. News & World Report’s 2015-16 Best Hospitals, Cleveland Clinic and its regional hospitals have a long-standing reputation for delivering exceptional care to hospitalized patients.

Since 2012, Cleveland Clinic’s Center for Connected Care has focused on keeping those patients connected to that same high quality of care. The center’s providers care for patients outside of the hospital setting as they transition from the hospital to home or a post-acute care facility. Their focus is to care for the patients with the most needs, including patients with multiple chronic care conditions.

“The Center for Connected Care was created to combine all post-hospital services available to Cleveland Clinic patients,” says cardiologist Eiran Gorodeski, MD, director of the Center for Connected Care at Cleveland Clinic. “Through our center, we strive to provide a full continuum of care so that patients can recover from illnesses or injuries in the best location for their individual needs, with Cleveland Clinic caregivers by their side.”

Services with the Center for Connected Care include:

• Home care• Hospice care• Medical care at home (visiting physicians and nurse practitioners)• Home infusion pharmacy• Home respiratory therapy• Palliative medicine (care for symptoms/stresses of a serious illness) • Daily visits by Cleveland Clinic providers to direct and supplement care

for patients discharged to nursing care and rehabilitation facilities

“Thanks to the use of the same secure electronic medical record used

from seamless communication among their primary care physicians and other caregivers. Healthcare providers are able to communicate effectively with patients and families, ensuring that each patient is receiving the best care possible,” says Dr. Gorodeski. “It’s about delivering the right care at the right time in the right place.”

Although anyone may request home care services, all must be ordered by a physician. For more information about the services available from the Center for Connected Care, call 216.444.HOME (4663) or visit clevelandclinic.org/homecare.

Flu season is here. The most important measures you can take are to:

• Get vaccinated every year• Wash your hands often with soap and water or use hand sanitizer• Avoid touching your mouth, eyes, and nose

If you’re sick, stay home, and cover your cough or sneeze to stop the spread of the virus.

Inspire the spark of creativity this holiday season during Turkey Tech. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, November 27 and 28, and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, November 29, Great Lakes Science Center will add an extra helping of Thanksgiving activities and demonstrations to its already packed lineup of hands-on, interactive family fun.

Ganley adds Fiat dealership in Bedford

The latest dealership to open on the Bedford Auto Mile is Ganley Fiat of Bedford.

Located at 240 Broadway Ave., the 6,300-square-foot dealership opened at the beginning of June and offers both new and used models.

According to Michael Friedman, general manager of Ganley Bedford Imports, Fiat approached the Ganley franchise and wanted it to represent their product.

“We had the perfect location for the dealership on the Bedford Auto Mile,” Friedman said. “Fiat is kind of a niche car that’s very popular in California and New York and in

different countries because they’re smaller cars. I could see the cars being popular here in Ohio too.”

The dealership, which is located next to Ganley Volkswagen of Bedford, is the only Fiat location associated with Ganley and the only one on the Bedford Auto Mile. It’s in the space previously occupied by Ganley Subaru of Bedford, which moved to 123 Broadway Ave. in 2013.
