Highest Qualifying Score with the fastest time earned by a dog currently training at COWN owned by a COWN member.

o THE GREATER VICTORIA DOG OBEDIENCE TRAINING CLUB (GVDOTC) offers a prize in each trial for the Highest Qualifying Score with the fastest time earned by a dog trained with GVDOTC by a GVDOTC member.

O THE NANAIMO KENNEL CLUB (NKC) offers an award for the NKC member with the Highest Qualifying Score with the fastest time in each rally trial.

CLASSIFICATION - CONFORMATION

The following classes will be provided, divided by sex.

REGULAR CLASSESBABY PUPPY - 3 months & under 6 months on the day of the show (no points will be awarded for this class).JUNIOR PUPPY - 6 months & under 9 months on the day of the show.SENIOR PUPPY - 9 months & under 12 months on the day of the show.12-18 MONTH CLASS - for dogs 12 months of age and under 18 months of age on the day of the show.CANADIAN BRED - for dogs born in Canada, Champions in any country excluded.BRED BY EXHIBITOR - shall be for dogs owned and handled in the ring by the breeder.OPEN CLASS - shall be for all Dogs.SPECIALS ONLY – Dogs which have a recorded CKC registration, Event Registration Number (ERN) or Miscellaneous Certification Number (MCN) and have attained the required points for Championship status. All awards earned at the show will be cancelled if it is found that a dog is not registered or has not completed the requirements for a CKC Championship. Dogs entered in this class will compete for Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex and Best Puppy if eligible.

NON-REGULAR CLASSESBABY PUPPY CLASS – Dogs 3 months of age and under 6 months of age on the day of the show. The award for this class are: Best Baby Male and Best Baby Female, Best Baby Puppy in Breed, Best Baby Puppy in Group,Best Baby Puppy in Show.EXHIBITION ONLY - Dogs entered in this class may not compete in the regular breed classes.SEXUALLY ALTERED CLASSES - Eligibility for the Sexually Altered Dog Classes shall be limited to dogs over 6 months of age which have been sexually altered by veterinary procedure. Points MAY NOT be carried from the regular competition judging to the Altered Dog Class judging. These classes will be judged immediately after Best of Breed of the regular classes. Two classes will be offered: Altered Male & Altered Female. Classes will be placed first through fourth in both sexes, the first place winner from each class will be declared Winners and the second place winner will be declared Reserve Winners. The Altered Winners Male and the Altered Winners Female will then compete for Best of Breed Altered and Best of Opposite Sex Altered in breed.BRACE CLASS - This class shall be for two dogs of the same breed (not necessarily of the same sex).

CLASSIFICATION - RALLY OBEDIENCERALLY NOVICE A - Dogs competing in this class may not have won a CKC Rally Novice (R. N.) title or any CKC Novice Obedience title. No handler who has exhibited a dog through its CKC CDX (Companion Dog Excellent) title or instructed dog training classes shall be eligible to enter this class. The handler of any dog in this class must be the owner, co-owner, or a member of their immediate families. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. A dog may continue to compete in this class after the owner has been notified by at least 2 different judges that the dog has won 3 qualifying scores in this class. However, a dog may not be entered or exhibited in this class in any rally trial after the owner has received official notification from the CKC that the Dog has won the title. No dog may be entered in both Rally Novice A and Rally Novice B at any one trial.RALLY NOVICE B - Any dog may compete in this class until a qualifying score in the Rally Advanced Class is earned. The owner or any other person may handle dogs in this class. A person may enter more than one dog in this class.RALLY ADVANCED A - This class shall be for dogs that have won the Rally Novice (R. N.) title but have not won the Rally Advanced (R. A.) title or any CKC Novice Obedience title. No handler who has exhibited a dog through its CKC CDX (Companion Dog Excellent) title or instructed dog training classes shall be eligible to enter this class. Rosettes will be awarded to First in each class and Best in Sweepstakes. Flat ribbons will be awarded to 2nd, 3rd and 4th in each class. Class winners will also receive 10% of total entry fee. Best in Sweepstakes will receive a 25% of total entry fee, Runner Up will receive 10% of total entry fee. Best in Sweepstakes and Runner Up will be chosen from the Class winners. Remainder of 5% will be retained by the Club to defray costs.

GENERAL RULES GOVERNING THESE SHOWS AND TRIALS

1. The Club reserves the right to remove any person from the show. The Show Superintendent shall have full control of the above shows and trials, which will be governed by CKC rules.2. Any dog excused by the Show Superintendent or the Show Veterinarian for any reason shall not, after being excused, compete in any class for any award for the balance of the show. Any female excused because of being in season shall not be allowed to compete in any class for any award.3. The show committee will use due care and diligence for the welfare of dogs and exhibitors, but will not be responsible for, or assume any liability in the event of accident, or other misfortune, to either dogs, exhibitors or patrons.4. A Judge or any person participating in any capacity at a Dog Show held under CKC Rules shall not be subjected to any indignity of any kind during the progress of the show and it shall be the duty and obligation of the Club holding the show to see that this rule is effectively carried out.5. Exhibitors are solely responsible for the conduct or actions of their animals while they are on the show grounds.6. DOGS MUST BE READY FOR JUDGING. The Club will not be responsible for and is not obligated to provide any service for notifying owners or agents of breed or class judging. No ring shall be held up waiting for exhibitors or handlers. Exhibitors & Handlers with more than one dog shall have substitute handlers available so the judging will not be delayed.7. The owner of a dog entered in these shows is entirely responsible for any error in entering his/her dog, regardless of how or by whom the entry was made.8. A dog once disqualified for any reason at a championship show held under these rules cannot again be shown at a show held under these rules until the dog has been examined by an official committee appointed by the CKC and the committee finds the dog is free from the condition which prompted the disqualification. Application for reinstatement must be accompanied by a fee which shall be forfeited to the CKC if the examining committee is satisfied that the dog should remain disqualified. All awards earned at a dog show in violation of this rule shall be canceled by the CKC and the owner of the dog is subject to disciplinary action.9. Exhibitors and handlers will be responsible for their dogs and for their equipment left at the Show Grounds.10. For the benefit of the health of animals and the pleasure of the exhibitors and spectators we insist upon keeping our grounds and buildings as clean as possible. Exhibitors are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs. Please exercise your dog BEFORE taking it to the Judging ring. Dogs are to be exercised in the designated areas only, not in the vicinity of the ring areas.11. No entry fee will be refunded if the Show cannot open or be completed by reason of riots, civil disturbances, fire, and Act of God, public emergency, act of public enemy, strikes or any other cause beyond the control of the Club.12. Entry fees will not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by the Veterinarian or Judge, or barred from competition by action of the Show Committee.

To determine the number of championship points earned by a dog awarded Winners, total all the dogs in competition which the dog defeated, directly or indirectly, for the highest of the following official breed awards: Winners, Best of Winners, Best of Breed. A dog that is disqualified, dismissed, excused or ordered from the ring by the judge shall be included in thecalculation for championship points. Further Section 15.1.12{C} has been added and states the dog must: “have earned at least one 2-point win either at the breed level or group level.”

The system provides for additional points if a dog awarded winners also places in the Group as listed below.

A class Dog awarded Best In Show at an all-breed championship show will be credited with five points inclusive of any points earned at the breed or group level. In no case may a dog earn more than five (5) points at a single show.
