Dear Parents & Guardians,
BLANKETS FOR THE HOMELESS COLLECTION A very big thank you from TPS and the African
Sisterhood to the families who supported the blanket
collection by donating new or used blankets. Over 60
blankets were collected that will be donated to the
‘300 Blankets’ charity for distribution to homeless
people.
PARENT OPINION SURVEYS
Many of our families will receive a letter this week that asks parents to complete an online survey on the education provided for our students at Thomastown Primary School. Parent Opinion Surveys are completed each year by parents in government schools across Victoria. The surveys are completed anonymously and all responses are completely confidential. It is important to the school that you complete the survey as honestly as possible. The information is used by the Department of Education and Training (DET) and by the school to identify areas of success and areas that are in need of improvement. Parents who receive the survey are selected by a computer program that randomly generates a selection of 70 families. The use of a random computer generated selection means that some parents who completed the survey last year may also receive a survey this year.
The survey takes 10-15 minutes to complete and can be accessed at any time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available in a range of languages other than English. These include: Arabic, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Chin (hakha), Hindi, Japanese, Somali, Turkish, Punjabi and Greek. If you do not have access to a computer, we are happy to arrange for you to use one of the
computers at the school so you can complete the survey.
Thank you to all our parents for the continued support you provide for our school.
PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS
Thank you to all the families who attended the interviews during the second last week of term. It
was great for students and their families to be able to celebrate the learning which has been
happening so far this year and also for discussions to be had relating to areas for improvement.
Please contact your child’s teacher if you still need to make an appointment for an interview or if
you have not yet collected your child’s half year written report.
NAIDOC WEEK
In honour of NAIDOC Week, all classes last week focussed on elements of the history of our First
Nation Peoples. The theme of this year’s NAIDOC Week was , “Because of her we can”.

EARLY ARRIVALS/ LATE COLLECTION OF CHILDREN I remind parents that supervision of the school yard does not commence until 8.45am. I have
noticed some children standing alone in the school yard as early as 8.15am. Parents who
need to drop their child at school early in the morning should consider using the
Before School Care program.
Teachers hours for supervision of children are 8:45am—3:45pm.
We understand that parents will occasionally be held up in traffic or have appointments that
run late. However, children who are regularly left in the school yard or at the office after
school will be placed into after school care at 3:45pm at the expense of the parent.
