THOMAS NEAL’S
WAREHOUSE21,000 sq ft (1,950 sq m)
Flagship Retail Opportunity
Designed by Thomas Neal
in the early 1690s to attract
the fashionable aristocrats
to live and work, this matrix
of streets was originally laid
out in the star-shaped design
as a clever way to maximise
land value.
The first inhabitants of
respectable gentleman,
lawyers and prosperous
tradesmen were succeeded
in the mid 1700s by
ironmongers, woodcarvers,
straw hat manufacturers, pork
butchers, watch repairers,
wig makers, book sellers and
several public houses.
The cobbled streets and
laneways also became home
to the capital’s most infamous
gin houses and drinking
establishments. At one point
a public house was located
on every corner of the Dial.
By the mid-18th Century,
Seven Dials had become
a notorious and feared
“rookery” (slum) in London
with numerous incidents of
mob violence.
In 1773 the famous Sundial
Pillar at the centre of the
development was removed
by officials in an attempt
to rid the mob of their
meeting place.
More recently Seven Dials
has been home to Monty
Python as well as the Beatles’
manager Brian Epstein. Since
then the area has continued
to develop into the unique
international shopping and
dining destination it is today.

THOMAS NEAL’S WAREHOUSE
Thomas Neal’s Warehouse is
ideally located between Soho
and Covent Garden in the heart
of London’s West End.
Seven Dials is served by excellent
transport connections giving access
to all major London districts. Four
busy underground stations surround
the area currently servicing 115 million
passengers per annum (source:
Transport for London). In addition,
mainline train station Charing Cross is
nearby, as well as numerous bus, car
and cycle routes. Tottenham Court
Road’s underground station is being
redeveloped as part of Europe’s
largest engineering project, Crossrail,
which is costing a total £15 billion and
is due to be completed in 2018.
Passenger numbers using this station
are expected to rise to 73 million per
year from 55 million currently. This
is projected to rise to 108 million
passengers by 2026, servicing more
passengers than Oxford Circus
underground station.
Seven Dials will be the main route
for pedestrian traffic into Leicester
Square and Covent Garden. Crossrail
will connect Greater London’s main
business centres (Heathrow, West End,
City of London and Canary Wharf) and
will carry 200 million passengers per
year bringing more shoppers to Seven
Dials than ever before. Tottenham
Court Road will be 30 minutes’ travel
time from Heathrow and Canary Wharf
a further 15 minutes away.
