Fulton Learning Center’s 5th grade birding team, the “Birdacious Buntings,” took a practice field trip to Corpus Christi, Portland and the Rockport area February 27. The group recorded almost 70 species of birds – wow! They toured Blucher Park in CC, the Hans and Pat Suter Nature Center near TAMU-CC, Indian Point Park in Portland, and the Linda Castro Nature Center in Rockport. Ring-necked Duck, Blue-headed Vireo and Long-billed Thrasher were new birds added to these kids’ life lists of birds seen in the wild. Students participating today included Kate Hill, Shelby Hudson and Kyleigh Karl. They were accompanied by their Aransas Bird and Nature Club mentors Bron Rorex and Steve Reisinger and ACISD school sponsor Martha McLeod. 5th Grade Birding
