Summary I am an ambitious and motivated fourth year mechanical engineering student seeking an opportunity to complete a six to eight month internship from January – June/August 2016. I would be looking to further my experience in the oil and gas industry following a successful placement at Maersk Oil in Aberdeen. Areas of interest would include drilling, well design and servicing, and also subsea design and production operations. However I am open to any engineering opportunities you may have.

During my time at Maersk I worked in the production technology team lead by Marie Louise Morkved and completed two projects. The first project was a production study for two wells currently under completion in the North Sea. IPM Prosper was used to model the wells and they were then combined in a subsea layout in GAP. A production prediction was run in GAP to see how the wells would perform over a 20+ year period.

The second project used Landmark WellPlan to complete a drag analysis for running in a completion string. Following this a sensitivity analysis was done to see the effect that varying the following had on the initial drag analysis; including more detail of the diameters of the screens and packers, use of centralisers, constrictions in the open hole diameter, drag coefficients and mud densities. A final comparison was done between the initial drag analysis and the drag analysis for an optimised completion.

My university grade average of 70% demonstrates my ability and work ethic. In the last three years I have completed a variety of individual and team design projects. These include a watermill design for a Nepalese village, a steering wheel with quick release mechanism and a floating mobile crane.

Through my experience working in the hospitality sector I have gained excellent skills in teamwork and communication. My approachable nature means that I form working relationships easily.

I have been an avid kayaker for over ten years and have achieved a British Canoe Union Four Star Award and become a Level One Coach. I was kit secretary for the university canoe club. It was my responsibility to fix broken kit and plastic weld kayaks to ensure all equipment was safe for use.

Education & Skills 2012-present The University of Edinburgh: 4th Year of a Masters in Mechanical Engineering The courses which I have found particularly interesting so far are solid mechanics, fluid mechanics and thermodynamics. I have studied these subjects in depth to give me a good engineering foundation to build upon. I also have a strong grasp of areas such as materials engineering and dynamics. My course involves weekly engineering applications laboratories where I work closely with university technicians. These laboratories are great for putting my theoretical knowledge into practice.
