males 1-0-0-2-1-0-0-1; females 1-2-1-1-1-0-1.12 Also shown in this census, page 14, is JamesCummins as: males 0-1-0-1-1-0-2; females 1-0-0-0-1. County records should give further data.

8. James Cummins; living May 10, 1796; probably is the James Cummins, born 1780-1790,living in Montgomery County, TN, 1830; married _____ (deceased by 1830). James Cumminshad living in his household in 1830 a man abut his same age; however, the relationship to JamesCummins is not shown. Probable children of James or the other man in the same age group,1780-1790, or of both men:

A son born 1800-1810A daughter born 1800-1810.A son born 1820-1815.A son born 1820-1825.A daughter born 1825-1830.

9. David H. Cummins; born Duplin County, NC, Feb. 16, 1806; died Montgomery County, TN,Jan. 7, 1834; married in Tennessee, Aug. 24, 1830, Dorothy “Dolly” L. Sills (born NorthCarolina, Aug. 5, 1812; died March 14, 1863, probably in Livingston County, KY, daughter ofThomas Sills and Jane Merritt of Halifax County, NC). Children as shown in the Bible record ofdaughter Eleanor Cummins) Clark (in the possession of this writer): + 20. Eleanor; born July 9, 1831; died ca. 1879.

21. James S.; born Sept 11, 1832; died Aug. 21, 1836.

Jane (Merritt) Sills was born Nov. 14, 1785; died Sandy Creek in Livingston County, KY,Dec. 15, 1859. Her death record shows she was a daughter of Drury and Penelope (____) Merrittof Halifax County, NC.

It is very probable that David H. Cummins, born Feb. 16, 1806; died Jan. 7, 1834, was ason of Aaron Cummins since the records of Montgomery County, TN, at the County CourtClerk’s office at Clarksville, TN, show that Aaron Cummins was appointed administrator forDavid H. Cummins. The Administrator’s Bond for $500.00, appointing Aaron Cumminsadministrator was signed Jan. 27, 1834 by Aroon Cummins, R. N. Bullard and Nelson C.Whitsett, and recorded Feb. 23, 1834 in Record Book F 1829-1834, page 544. On pages 602-603of the same volume is recorded May 12, 1834 the Account of Sale showing the disposition of theestate.

Another reason for the belief that David H. Cummins was the son of Aaron Cummins isthe possibility that David H. Cummins was named for David Hall who was the father of RachelHall, wife of Aaron Cummins. David Hall was mentioned as a son in the will of Thomas Hall, recorded 1764 in Duplin County, NC. Aaron Cummins was an heir of David Hall as shown indivision of estate (son-in-law).
