covers many of the פרשת ויקרא ‘ה, that were brought before קרבנות each of them brought as a consequence of an action or being committed. Among the listings עבירהof possible קרבנות, one description of a sacrifice stands out: The says, "When a תורהleader sins and does something he shouldn't do, and becomes guilty..." (4:22). The ספורנו offers an insight that helps explain this He explains .(verse) פסוקthat powerful and important people are more likely to be observed sinning and thus must be more careful. But the goes on to tell us that sinning isn't bad until the פסוקperson becomes "guilty", by not doing anything about what they have done. The ספרא adds a beautiful emphasis to this lesson. ”Vayikra el Moshe“ - ויקרא אל משה

T he Parsha begins with the words Vayikra el Moshe, which means Hashem called to Moshe. Rav Pam explains that when Hashem spoke to Moshe he would use the

word vayikra and would call him lovingly to teach him a mitzvah. Moshe would answer saying heneini, here I am, ready and eager to learn something new. In contrast when Hashem would speak to Bilaam, the evil prophet of the other nations of the world, he would call him using the word vayikar, by chance, not in the loving manner with which he appeared to Moshe. In the text of the Torah the word is written vayikra, with a small aleph. The Baal Haturim explains that due to Moshe’s humbleness’ Moshe wanted to write the word without an aleph the way it is written concerning Bilaam, but Hashem wanted to write it with an aleph because of Hashem’s love for him. A talmid chacham’s young child was once stricken with a serious illness. Seeking heavenly mercy he made

the rounds of many tzadikim and tzidkaniyos, among them Rebbetzin Elyashiv, requesting that they daven for the child’s welfare. B”H the child recovered fully from the illness. When this child reached the age to enter ye-shiva, Rebbetzin Elyashiv approached the father request-ing permission to purchase new shoes for the boy in honor of the occasion. She explained that she wanted some part in his Torah learning. Naturally the father agreed and the rebbetzin purchased his shoes. The rebbetzin’s actions made a profound impact upon the little boy. The father related that ‘he went to yeshiva with enthusiasm beyond the norm’. The boy didn’t just walk to yeshiva, he ran with unbridled joy. The medrash relates that children begin learning Torah from Parshas Vayikra because the children are pure and they should begin learning with the parsha of korbanos that are pure. Rebbetzin Elyashiv appreciated the purity of the young boys’ Torah and acted to attain a portion in the great z’chus of that Torah learning.

Moshe Lowy (1B-S) found some money that someone lost and brought it to the office.

Hillel Muehlgay (2B) said Rashi’s answer about why אברהם moved away from חברון after the ככר .was destroyed הירדן

Chaim Rothberger (2B) remembered that he learned the שרש— ה, מ, א in פרשת בראשת and found it!

Tzvi Seidman and Chaim Rothberger (2B) asked Rashi’s question in פסוק א‘ of עקידת יצחק. He also asked Rashi’s question: “If Avrohom thought he would sacrifice יצחק, why did he say, “We will return to you?”

Akiva Besser and Eli Sheer (2B) found the —שרש ע, ק, ב back in פרשת נח.

———————————————————————- Dear Rabbi Hirschman,

I wanted to let you know how proud we are of Shmuel Aryeh. He started going on Wednesday nights with Abba and Dani to help with Tomchei Shabbos. They packed various food items in boxes and delivered envelopes with money to houses. It’s so nice to see him participate in such a nice chessed. - Mrs. Aviva Levin
