"For everything there is a season,

and a time for every matter under

heaven." Ecclesiastes 3:1

Almost 16 years ago, Circle of Praise came together as a small

ensemble. We began as a group of young moms who simply enjoyed

praising God in song. Now, with our children grown, we have entered

a different phase of life: working, traveling, and often visiting those

young adult children! So, despite it being a difficult decision, we

believe God is calling for the “season” of Circle of Praise to draw to a

close. We have loved worshiping as a group and sincerely appreciate

the support we've received from our congregation. Thank you for your

encouragement! We are grateful to our accompanist and vocal

coach Jan Sutherland. Most of all, we thank God for this opportunity

He has given us.

We will sing for worship on December 6 and our final time together will

be December 24 at the 9:00 pm Christmas Eve service.

Project Housing Connect

Project Housing Connect will be held once again at

FUMC on Wednesday, November 4. People who are

homeless, or in danger of losing their housing, will

gather for information, guidance, and lunch. Our

church helps by providing a variety of goods and

volunteers to help make our friends in need welcome

and cared for during the event.

You can help! Please consider donating any of the following:

gently used or new coats, hats, and gloves

new or gently used blankets or throws

 new socks and undergarments

Please put donations in the box in the church office area. Collection

will continue until November 3.

Questions? Please contact Lynnette at our church, 835.8935, or

Midland Area Homes, 496.9550.

Art of Sharing

When joining the church, we promise to uphold the church with

our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service and our witness.

All of us offer gifts in the abundant talents God has given us.

The Art of Sharing committee would like to celebrate those gifts between services on November 15 in Fellowship Hall as we

illustrate the theme: "Glorify God with your Talents." May the

artwork inspire you to dig deeper, seeing the gifts each of you

offers in the talents you share with others.

The FUMC staff would like to thank

all those who volunteered their time

to help at the UMW Fall Rummage

Sale. There is an enormous amount

of work involved, including but not

limited to, set-up, moving goods to

the basement, sorting, pricing,

breaking boxes down, and clean-

up. Our missions are truly blessed to

have you on their side!

SUNDAY FRIENDSHIP LUNCH

NEEDS YOU!

Volunteers are needed to work at Sunday

Friendship Lunch. Sign up is convenient with

Signup Genius! Simply go to the FUMC

website, fumcmidweb.org, and look for the

link under the “News & Updates” section on the homepage. You can

also contact Kathy Wolf, 835.9954, or sign up on the sheet in the Little

Kitchen.

We really need YOU to keep this valuable ministry going!

Sr. High Roll Bake Our first Sr. High Roll Bake of the fall will take place

on November 14. Please note that there will be 3

roll bakes this year instead of four. All proceeds for

Roll Bakes go to support the Sr. High United

Methodist Youth Fellowship and our Spring Break

Mission Trip.

Both types of rolls can be donated to Hidden Harvest – a food rescue

and distribution agency here in the Great Lakes Bay Region! So, if you

would like to support the youth, but would rather not have the rolls

yourselves, consider donating them to Hidden Harvest. The Sr. High

youth will receive the proceeds, while Hidden Harvest and those they

help are given fresh rolls. (All donations of rolls to Hidden Harvest must

be prepaid.)

The cost is $3.50 for plain, and $4.00 for cinnamon.

You can place your order or donation of rolls to Hidden Harvest by: • Contacting your favorite Sr. High youth.

• Filling out a yellow pew card (for personal orders) and putting it in

the offering plate or dropping it off in the office with Attn: John

Engler.

• Filling out a white pew envelope (for donation of rolls to Hidden

Harvest) and putting it in the offering plate or dropping them off in

the church office. • Calling the Church Office, 835.6797.

Order deadline is Sunday, November 8, so don’t delay. As always, we

appreciate your support of our youth and our Sr. High UMYF. Mark your

calendars for our next roll bake, December 12, with an order deadline

of December 6.

and you gave me

something to eat,…”

You’re Invited Special Stephen Ministers Meeting

Tuesday, November 10 | 7:00 pm | Little Theater

Stephen Ministers are opening their November meeting to the

congregation. Yolanda Miller and Mary Shaughnessy will be talking

about caring for, talking to, and supporting a loved one who is in the

last month of life. Yolanda works for The Toni and Trish House and Mary

is a long time volunteer there.

Start Your Advent Season with “Faith”

Mark your calendar for Sunday, November 29 at 6:00 pm, when Rev.

Faith Fowler and The Ambassadors from Cass UMC and Cass

Community Services in Detroit join us for a special worship service.

The Ambassadors are a group of formerly homeless men from Cass

Community Social Services who not only bring their talented voices to a

variety of audiences, but also their stories of recovery.

Quoting Detroit’s Mitch Albom, “Rev. Fowler is the most important

currency of our city, a loving, egoless, inspiring leader who doesn't see

color, doesn't see class, who looks at our poorest, most neglected

citizens and sees only hope and opportunity.”

Sharing Tree Time

It's coming . . . . the first hints are starting.

Christmas decorations are going up in the

stores

The Santa workshop that trains the wonderful

Santas & Mrs. Clauses happened recently

The calendar pages keeping getting turned

over with each month seeming to go faster

than the one before it.

This can only mean that Sharing Tree time is near also. Trees with tags

will go up Mon., November 16, and will come down Mon., December 7.

More information will be "shared" in future bulletins.

Sermon Audio Just a reminder that audio of the weekly sermons is

available on the church website, fumcmidweb.org.

Every Sunday morning you will find people of this

church praying in the Chapel from 8:15 to 8:45 am before the

start of the first morning service. We pray for our pastors, each

of you, and for God’s presence to be active in Sunday

worship. Would you come and pray with us?

B eing a Stephen Minister is a

chance to help other people, to

walk with them during their times of

need, and to be a witness to God

at work in their lives. Stephen

Ministers are the care givers and

God is the cure giver. We invite you to join us in this wonderful ministry.

The next class to become a Stephen Minister starts in January.

Applications are available in the Plexiglass holder across from the

reception desk. Please return completed applications by November 9.

If you or anyone you know is in need of a Stephen Minister, please call

Jo Winchester, 631.0122, Terry Townley, 835.7564, Diane Merrick,

631.8854, or Rev. Yum, 835.6797.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

The Prayer Shawl Ministry makes shawls and lap robes

which offer comfort to receivers. They symbolize

caring and peace to those in pain, grief, isolation or

illness, and also, joy and delight to those experiencing

new beginnings. Often these are given by our

ministerial and visitation staff but they are available for

anyone to give.

Stop in the church office to select a shawl to share

with a friend, church member, or anyone else in need

of comfort. Help them feel surrounded by the

presence of God and the knowledge that they are

not alone in their journey.

New members are always welcome to join this outreach ministry in

creating prayer shawls. The next meeting will be Thursday, Nov. 5 at

12:15 pm in the Hearth Room.
