The Journey to Bethlehem Team would like to express our gratitude to everyone who helped make this year’s Journey to Bethlehem possible. It was truly a whole church effort to come together and offer the Christmas message to our community.

God's Love Wins The Magi: Matthew 2:1-12
The Spiritual Journey of Wise Men and Women
Curiosity: Pay attention to signs and wonders ... see the star!
Interest: Ask good questions, hard questions ... where is the one born to be king?
Pursuit: Persist in making a careful search ... out of you, Bethlehem, will come a ruler, a shepherd
Fulfillment: Experience the joy you've been searching for ... they were over-joyed when they saw the child!
Humility: Submit to the truth you encounter ... they bowed down and worshiped him
Worship: offer yourselves to God, all you are and all you have ... they opened their treasure and presented their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh
Questions for Reflection and Discussion
1. Why would intellectuals from the East care about a boy born to be king of the Jews? Why would people from the West today be drawn to this moment in ancient history?
2. Explain King Herod's reaction to the quest of the Magi? Why didn't he send his own representatives to Bethlehem?
3. Does the church welcome people with questions? Do we?
4. Does the church welcome people from different backgrounds and cultures? Whose presence in our neighborhood/church/community alarms us?
5. What does true worship look like? What gift do you have for King Jesus?
Blue Christmas - When you're in times of trial or
suffering, your church family is here to help and guide
you. Our Blue Christmas Service is for those who have
experienced loss in the last few years and may be enter-
ing into the holidays with sadness. Please join us Sunday,
December 16 at 6:30 p.m. for a service of remembrance,
healing and hope. For more information, contact Pastor Jessica Springer.
Poinsettias are available for $10 each this year, and will be used to
help beautify the sanctuary for the Christmas Eve services. Please
make your check out to Community Covenant Church, note
“poinsettia” in the memo and place in the offering plate. Orders are
due by Dec. 21st. You may pick up your poinsettia after service
on Christmas Eve or anytime thereafter.
During this Christmas Season, the church will be open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on
Christmas Eve but then will be closed from Christmas Day to Jan. 2. On Jan. 2, we will
resume normal office hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Need to contact us outside of business
hours?
