Public worship at St. Paul Lutheran Church will not resume through Sunday, May 17 by a vote passed from the Church Council. We as members of the Church Council feel it is necessary to create a plan of action and to implement this plan before resuming public worship so we can ensure the safety and well-being of our congregational members. In the coming weeks, we will reevaluate resuming public worship once a plan of action is in place and will also take into account the number of current cases of Covid-19 reported in our county. We want to thank you for your patience and understanding in this most unusual time. Our Sunday worship service will continue to be broadcast live on KIWA radio FM 100.7 or AM 1550 and by live stream on St. Paul’s Facebook page at 9:00 a.m.

Our church office will be closed to the public, but will be staffed from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Feel free to phone or e-mail the church office, a member of our staff will be happy to assist you.

Parish Ed. Committee is looking for a volunteer(s) to serve as Sunday School Superintendent, beginning in the fall 2020. Please contact Darrell Sneiderman or Lori Brown if interested.

*Opening Hymn ~ LBW No. 479 ~ “My Faith Looks Up to Thee”

1. My faith looks up to thee, Thou Lamb of Calvary, Savior divine! Now hear me while I pray, Take all my guilt away, Oh, let me from this day Be wholly thine!

2. May thy rich grace impart Strength to my fainting heart, My zeal inspire; As thou hast died for me, Oh, may my love to thee Pure, warm, and changeless be, A living fire!

3. While life’s dark maze I tread And grief’s around me spread, Be thou my guide; Bid darkness turn to day, Wipe sorrow’s tears away, Nor let me ever stray From thee aside.

4. When ends life’s transient dream, When death’s cold, sullen stream Shall o’er me roll; Blest Savior, then, in love Fear and distrust remove; Oh, bear me safe above, A ransomed soul!

*Hymn of the Day ~ LBW No. 481 ~ “Savior, like a Shepherd Lead Us”

1. Savior, like a shepherd lead us; Much we need your tender care. In your pleasant pastures feed us, For our use your fold prepare. Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus, You have brought us; we are yours.

2. We are yours; in love befriend us, Be the guardian of our way; Keep your flock, from sin defend us, Seek us when we go astray. Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus, Hear us children when we pray.

3. You have promised to receive us, Poor and sinful though we be; You have mercy to relieve us, Grace to cleanse, and pow’r to free. Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus, Early let us turn to you.

4. Early let us seek your favor, Early let us do your will; Blessed Lord and only Savior, With your love our spirits fill. Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus, You have loved us, love us still.

*Communion Hymn ~ LBW No. 212 ~ “Let Us Break Bread Together”

1. Let us break bread together on our knees; Let us break bread together on our knees. (REFRAIN) 2. Let us drink wine together on our knees; Let us drink wine together on our knees. (REFRAIN) 3. Let us praise God together on our knees; Let us praise God together on our knees. (REFRAIN)

REFRAIN: When I fall on my knees, With my face to the rising sun, O Lord, have mercy on me.

*Sending Hymn ~ LBW No. 492 ~ “O Master, Let Me Walk with You”

1. O Master, let me walk with you In lowly paths of service true; Tell me your secret; help me bear The strain of toil, the fret of care.

2. Help me the slow of heart to move By some clear, winning word of love; Teach me the wayward feet to stay, And guide them in the homeward way.

3. Teach me your patience; share with me A closer, dearer company, In work that keeps faith sweet and strong, In trust that triumphs over wrong.

4. In hope that sends a shining ray Far down the future’s broad’ning way, In peace that only you can give; With you, O Master, let me live.

Lord, we exist to give You glory. We exist because of Your glory, and in Your glory, as our Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer. We give you thanks and praise for every breath and moment You have given to us. We repent of our sin; for the shameful things we have done against You and for our silence when we did not speak up to proclaim Your Name, profess Your Word, or protect and practice Your will. We ask Your forgiveness. We pray that the knowledge of the glory of the Lord will spread across our nation and the entire earth as we seek Your Kingdom and righteousness; as we walk in obedience to You, and in humble unity, love one another. Jesus, the Bible says that You are “the knowledge of the glory of the Lord.” You have taught us to pray, commanded us to love, and commissioned us to share Your gospel of grace. Your glory fills our hearts and families, it overflows into our neighborhoods, workplaces, campuses, churches, entertainment, and media. We give thanks for our military and ask that Your glory would spread to, and through them as they preserve freedom around the world. We pray for our government, that all of our leaders and laws would be filled with Your glory, that they would magnify Your Holy Word and honor Your will and ways. We pray that Your grace and glory would spread to bring hope to the hopeless, and love where there is hurt and hate. God, use us as we pray your promise, that “the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.” In Jesus Name, Amen!
