Reach out to our hospitalized and at-home members. See the
list in the narthex and the Gathering Space tract rack. Your
prayers and contacts bring peace and comfort.
Daylight Savings Time ends next Saturday. Be sure to turn your
clocks back one hour.
Blanket Sunday is November 1, so please
donate dollars. For only $5 each, Church
World Service purchases blankets for those
in need or in crisis. Please donate money
generously to support this worthy project!
Look for an envelope in your bulletin Nov. 1, or send your
donation to the church office. Make checks out to Trinity
Lutheran Church and write Blanket Sunday on the memo.
Nawakwa's Annual Auction is on Sunday, November 1, starting
at 2 pm. The quilts offered for auction are displayed in
Nawakwa’s Assembly Hall, while the many quality crafts for
the silent auction are displayed next door in Craft Hall. Start
your Christmas shopping early AND support the Lutheran
Camping Corporation! Immediately following the live auction,
enjoy dinner in the dining hall. This evening meal is free, but
call 717-677-8211 so we know you are coming. If you would
like to attend but would prefer not to drive yourself, please
sign up on the list at the display in our Gathering Space!
Members, we’re still
looking for your
yellow Estimate of
Giving cards. Mail
or bring them to
the church office.
October 22-25, 2015
Did you give electronically
today? If so, put an “I gave
electronically” card in the
offering plate. There’s nothing to
fill out (e-givers already gave us
their info when they signed up
online). Just drop in the card.
Why, you ask? Three good
reasons: (1) Using this card helps
you avoid feeling awkward when
the plate passes you by. (2) You’ll
show a visible example of
stewardship just like your fellow
Trinity members who use offering
envelopes. (3) Finally, when
others notice the card in the
plate or the basket, you’ll help to
publicize the ease of e-giving. The
new blue cards are in the pew
pockets in the nave and on the
back table in Fellowship Hall. Also
on the card is a quick response code that, when scanned
with a smart phone, takes you to our e-giving web page.
Michael Donovan is Trinity’s Artist of the Month for October.
Mike has been photographing for about 40 years; he started
while taking a black and white photography course in
college. He holds an associate degree in photography from
HACC and has also attended various workshops, seminars,
and lectures. Mike is a member of the Art Association of
Harrisburg, the Mechanicsburg Art Center, the Carlisle Arts
Learning Center, and the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen.
He is a judge for various local camera clubs and civic
organization competitions, has taught photography classes
for the East Pennsboro Library educational program, and—as
a retired school teacher—has taught summer photography
classes for elementary school students. His photographs have

been displayed in the WITF atrium, the Art Association of
Harrisburg, Whitaker Center, Oyster Mill Playhouse, the
Mechanicsburg Art Center, and other venues.
Read about Trinity’s proposed capital
projects. Pick up a copy of
the draft document,
“Identifying Capital Needs
in Strategic Planning,” that
was affirmed by our
Congregation Council at its
September meeting. The draft
lists capital needs/projects
identified by teams,
committees, staff, and leadership
during our strategic planning
process. Then, on Sunday,
November 1, at 9:30 am in Room 237,
Property Committee Chair Dan Reed
and Pastor Jack Horner will lead a
forum discussion about these proposed projects. You are
encouraged to attend. The draft document is available at the
Gathering Space reception desk and in the church office.
The Nominating Committee has begun the process of seeking
names for leadership positions in Trinity’s Congregation
Council. Please prayerfully consider if you feel called to this
opportunity. Contact Bert Weaver to recommend yourself or
someone you know! Bert Weaver 717-697-3259,

amazing ministry for lack of coordinators! Needed are the
following:
Dining room coordinator for set-up and clean-up
Dining room coordinator for hosts and table settings
Recruitment coordinator for volunteers
Volunteers to “shadow” coordinators and to take the lead
next year
All who have attended any Thanksgiving dinner in the past
know what a wonderful event it is. The fellowship and food are
long remembered, so let’s make sure we can continue this
tradition. Contact Steve Kauffman, Fellowship Team
Coordinator, at [email protected] or 717-994-0982.
Saturday Work Crew opportunities on November 7. We’ll
volunteer for P.E.T., or Personal Energy Transportation, at the
workshop in Mt. Holly Springs, 408 N. Baltimore Street (behind
Sheetz), from 9 am to 2 pm. P.E.T. builds colorful, sturdy carts
for people with mobility issues; the carts are shipped to
developing nations. There are all types of jobs to do regardless
of skill level. You can carpool from Trinity's parking lot at 8:15
am, or you can meet directly at the workshop. Bring
something to eat and drink. To volunteer, contact Barb
Musselman [email protected] or 717-329-3710.
The next Jr. High Nite is NEXT Sunday! That's right, Jr. High takes
off again next Sunday, November 1, from 6-8:30 pm in the YG
room (Room 236). This is a Nite for you, your friends, and
everyone in grades 6-8. Be there for fun, fellowship, learning,
and even more fun. Bring Snacks! Bring Friends! Snacks and
friends are always welcome and encouraged. Dinner and
drinks will always be provided. C U @ YG. P.S. YG Winter
Retreat sign-ups begin on this nite, so you WILL want to be
there!

Why cook? Instead, come out to our Youth Group’s Pasta Nite
2015 this Sunday, October 25, from 6-7:30 pm. You’ll love this
traditional Italian dinner of pasta and meatballs, rolls, salad,
and ice cream. Come one, come all! Buy your tickets in the
Gathering Space after church services, or at the door.
Advance tickets are just $7 for adults and $4 for children ages
3-10. Tickets at the door are just $8 for adults and $5 for the
children. Kids under 3 eat free! All funds raised from this meal
go to support future Youth Group events, including our service
trip this coming summer to Detroit.
Alehouse Table Talk: Join Pastor Horner for a beer or other
beverage and good conversation about the topic,
”Immigration and the Christian,” at the Appalachian Brewing
Company, 3721 Market St, Camp Hill, on Thursday, October
29, at 8:30 pm.
The Men’s Breakfast Gathering will meet on Saturday,
November 7, at Tom Drye’s home, 4300 Woodcrest Lane,
Camp Hill. Breakfast starts at 8. Join us for good food, good
company, and an interesting discussion. We’re relaxed and
informal, and we’ll end at 9:30. Contact Tom and Linda, 717-
763-7890 or [email protected], so they know how many
to expect, or if you have questions.
On Sunday, November 8, starting at 4 pm, don’t miss concert
pianist Paul Bisaccia—An American in Paris, Great American
Composers! This unique piano concert features waltzes by
Scott Joplin and Richard Rodgers, Sousa’s Washington Post
March, and other music by Stephen Sondheim, Irving Berlin
and George Gershwin. Plus, in celebration of the Tony-award
winning Broadway musical hit, Paul will play his exciting new
piano transcription of Gershwin’s An American in Paris.
Admission is free. This is a night of great American music and
great American composers at their best!
