SVP Advent Appeal For Homeless and Disadvantaged people in
Our Local Community This Christmas
Please try to collect as many items as you can and bring the bag back on the 4th Sunday of Advent, which is Sunday 18th December. We will deliver the bags to the Friary and London Road Hostel and hampers to those in need within our community.
We celebrate the Second Sunday of Advent
There will be ‘Evening Prayer and Benediction’ this Sec-ond Sunday of Advent at 5pm at the Holy Spirit Church.
This Sunday at the 9am Mass we welcome the St Edmund campion school choir.
Christmas puddings for sale! All profits to a charity, L'Arche, which supports people with a learning disability here in Nottingham and abroad. Delicious traditional plum puddings regular size (serves 4) £7 and large (serves 8) £13; sponges all serving 4, chocolate, ginger, lemon, sticky toffee £7 and gluten free traditional £8. They will be available after Holy Masses this Sunday 4th December. If you don't go to those Masses please email and I will arrange to deliver one. [email protected]

Cafod Advent Event raised £290.08 for our connect2 friends in El Salvador. Thank you for your continued support.
"Candles of Love at Christmas" raised £99.00 last weekend. They will be on sale this weekend also next weekend. The Mass for this is on Monday 12th December to which you are all invited.
U.C.M. Our next meeting is next Wednesday 7th December, com-mencing with prayers at 7.30 pm after which we shall have a Games/ Party Evening. Please bring some Nibbles & Drinks! Look forward to seeing you there.
Advent Penitential Service
There will be an Advent Penitential Service on Monday 19th December 7.30pm at the Holy Spirit.
Confessors will be available.
Traidcraft - Thank you for supporting the stall at the
Cafod Advent Event with £287.70 of sales.
The last stall of the year will be the weekend 10/11th December, with a box for the Food Bank and lots of grocery bargains. Christmas Cards will be on Sale, also a selection of our Craft items with Christmas in mind! Your last chance to pick up a Fairtrade gift for Christmas.
First Friday Prayer Vocations
In the Bishop’s letter last week, he asked for adoration vocations in every parish. In future the first Friday adoration will be prayers for vocations.

Our Lady of Grace, Cotgrave
Our Advent Reflections session next Thursday, 8 December, at 7 pm, will be hosted by Anne Ferguson at:

Everyone is welcome - there is no need to join all sessions. Our fourth and last session will be on 15 December at a venue to be announced next week.

PARISH PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES 2017
Next Year’s Parish Pilgrimage to Lourdes will be from June 10th– June 17th 2017 and will cost £550 per pilgrim. The Pilgrimage is by coach with an overnight stay on the outward and return journeys and full board in the Hotel Irlande. Please contact Fr. John for a Booking Form and further information.

THE BECKET SCHOOL CHRISTMAS MARKET

There will be over 20 stalls featuring cosmetics, crafts, cards and much more. Refreshments will be available throughout the evening. The market will finish with our annual Advent Liturgy at 7:30pm.
All proceeds will be going to the ‘Building Hope in
Bunkpurugu’ which involves building a school in Ghana. It is the same charity that our Parish Christmas Fayre supported.

Faith in Familes 2016 Toy Appeal -
Faith in Families provides hampers of toys and food for
children under 11 years of age and their older siblings at
Christmas. Can you help with a gift for a child aged 0 -
11; warm baby and children’s clothing including hats,
scarves, gloves and socks; toiletries and items suitable
for older children. If you can help or for further infor-
mation contact Andrea Kelly on 955 8811. The latest
collection date is Friday 9th December to enable gifts to
be distributed.
Bishop’s Certificate in Catechesis
For all Parish Catechists who would like to learn more about being a Catechist. For Catechists that work with children, Teens or Adult Enquirers. Course starting February 2017, at the Holy Trinity Parish Centre, Boundary Road, Newark, Nottinghamshire, NG24 4AU.
12 Sessions: 4th February( 2 sessions), 25th February, 11th March, 25th March, 22nd April, 6th May, 13th May, 10th June, 24th June, 8th July ( 2 sessions).
