The anti-clockwise direction gives you the best climbs, especially above St. Catherines and out of Rozel Bay.
Starting in a central part of the island in an area called Victoria Village you will start on a downhill stretch to sea level, passing Grand Vaux Reservoir before arriving in St. Helier. There are numerous ways of making your way thought St. Helier towards the waterfront area. You can either follow Cycle Route 9, or if in a large group stick to the main roads through the centre of town ending up at the Weighbridge. Cycle past the main bus station and then onto the underpass. Cross over onto the harbour side of the road to join the A16 past Commercial Buildings which will take you towards your first short climb at Mount Bingham. Here you will join the A4 coast road which will take you all the way to Gorey on the east of the island.
The beautiful Mont Orgueil Castle will greet you in the old harbour of Gorey. When you reach the
pier itself the road will double back on itself to start a short climb. After a few hundred yards you will take your first right hand turn again climbing back up towards the castle. This will be sign posted Anne Port/St. Catherine’s/B29. This coast road, with stunning views across to France is one of the best areas to cycle in Jersey. There is a welcome surprise around every corner. St. Catherine’s Break Water is a great place to stop for a snack or a rest should you need it. From here it’s a steep climb up towards the top of Fliquet and on towards Rozel Manor from the coast road signposted Rozel (B91).
After passing Rozel Manor you will turn right past Rozel Campsite and down into Rozel Bay itself. The local favourite ‘The Hungry Man’ is yet another perfect snack stop. You will leave Rozel up the other side of the valley towards Jersey Zoo along La Route du Cotes du Nord. From the cross roads at Jersey Zoo you will join Cycle Route 3a and then briefly Cycle Route 3 as you head back to your starting point at Victoria Village.
