Need Volunteers at 8:00 AM

There is no doubt that we are living in a time of unknowns. At times, it seems there are more questions than answers. As we navigate through this period in our country, state, town

and church, we are mindful of the need to proceed with caution on every front. With that in mind, I want to address what will not be happening at Cornerstone the first Sunday we convene for a worship service. Choir, Life Groups, Nursery, Preschool Church, Celebrate Recovery, Wednesday night meals and Bible Study will not begin until a later time, which will be announced. The VBS week in June has also been postponed. I am sure that you both

appreciate and understand our need to err on the side of an abundance of caution.

We are aware that these unprecedented times have caused many hardships on families, some of which may not be seen from the outside looking in. Fear, anxiety, depression and worry may have crept into your mind and begin to consume your thoughts. Maybe these are areas that you are currently struggling to control. While I understand the need to seek professional counsel and medical advice, I want to take this time to share God’s Word that I trust will be a blessing to you.

“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groaning's which cannot be uttered.” Romans 8:26

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

“Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7

Please feel free to call any of our staff if you are struggling in these areas, so that we may pray with you.

Dear Cornerstone Family, For the first time in my Pastoral Ministry, I am looking at a blank calendar. At the same time, I am cautiously excited about the reopening of America, which will include Church.

Having Church during these last six weeks has taken a lot of effort that has been carried out by the “few”. I want to say a “Thank You” to all of the Life Group Teachers and small groups for their faithfulness in staying connected and continuing to teach the Word of God.

A God Thing happened that enhanced our ability to minister online (www.chchartwell.org), Facebook, and Instagram. Two years ago, Steve Roberson and Susan Arnold, (siblings) moved to Hartwell. Their neighbors, the Browns & the Shugarts invited them to Cornerstone. God worked, they joined and immediately became active in the Ministries of Cornerstone. Bro. Steve knew God had a Ministry for him and he began to pray for clarity. God led him to begin an online ministry. By June of last year, he had the bugs worked out so when the virus closed everything down we did not have to scramble for a way to broadcast our services. I am so thankful God called Steve to this ministry.

During these last six weeks, Steve has come alongside your staff and put in long hours to make it possible for us to have quality broadcasts of our services. “Thank you, Steve!” Please pray for him as he continues this ministry.

“What about reopening Cornerstone?” How does May 17th sound? That is our goal.

Here is the Plan: Worship Services on May 17th and following until it is safe. 10:40 AM & 5:OO PM Services (Duplicate Services - allows for safe distancing) No Meet & Greet No Choir No Nursery No Children’s Church No Life Groups on Church Premises Life Groups will continue on Zoom & Conference calls

For the worship services, households are to enter through the front foyer and sit together in the marked seats only. We need you to arrive early to allow time for seating. Also, if you have a mask please wear it as you enter and leave the Worship Service. Under the “Social Distancing” guidelines our 550 seat sanctuary will seat approximately 175 people. To insure that we have room for everyone, we are asking our members who have no preference to attend the 5 PM service. Of course, now more so than ever, STAY HOME IF YOU ARE SICK.

At the present time, no other services are planned. For now our facilities will only be used for Sunday Worship Services. At the proper time, we will begin Wednesday activities, restart Sunday AM Life Groups, Children’s Church, nursery care, and Celebrate Recovery. AWANA hopes to start back in August.

Summer activities, SUPERWOW has been canceled by the Georgia Baptist Mission Board. VBS (June 7-10) will be postponed until late summer or next year. Todd is working on ways to have some youth events before school starts back.

I am getting excited just planning our reopening, knowing that I will get to see so many of our CBC Family. I love being— Your Pastor,
