Social stories to prepare you for your library trip!
Caregivers are encouraged to visit the space during low peak periods on
Sundays to Thursdays 6 pm - 8 pm.
About Calm Down To The LibraryDesigned and equipped with sensory-friendly
learn areas, this autism-friendly space aims to promote inclusion of children with
autism into the library space.
About this social story bookletThis is a social story about visiting the Woodlands
Regional Library. Caregivers can use this to explain the social situations and what they might expect in
the library in order to increase structure and reduce anxiety for children with autism.

This is the library entrance at level 1. I will enter through the gates and walk
past the video wall on my left.

After entering the library, I will walk straight and turn left.
Look for the lift.

I will walk straight and take a lift to level 4.
At level 4, I will see a big tree. I will walk pass the tree and straight
to the exhibition.

If I have a question, I can ask the friendly people in the library
wearing this badge.

In the reading space, I can read books.
In the reading space, there are chairs of different
textures for me to sit on.

I can borrow eight books and take them home for three weeks.
*For library members only. Please head down to any public librarywith your NRIC and your child’s birth certificate
for membership application. We highly recommend the registration to be done before your
child’s visit to Woodlands Regional Library.
When I’m done, I can bring the books back so that other children
can read them too!
